My old roommate was a die hard republican. Before the 04 elections I signed him up on the mailing list of every single democratic presidential candidate as a joke.
Every one of them just sent him an email or maybe a letter thanking him for his support, except for Kucinich. We got half a dozen lawn signs, bumper stickers, and campaign buttons, as well as instructions on how to have a Kucinich support party. I felt bad for the guy because he was trying so hard and no one cared. 4/26/2007 12:07:47 PM |

Kucinich is a nut. I have no idea how he could be elected to anything above, say, a school board, much less the U.S. Congress. I don't think that he's a bad human being like half of his colleagues, but he is ridiculous and somewhere to the left of Yoko Ono politically. 4/26/2007 1:11:51 PM |

Nah, it's all good. You guys are the tinfoil folks now. Most people believe the war was a mistake and want us out. It's just the conservatives that think terrorists will swim across the ocean to kill us for our 'freedom.'

do a little research. he probably has the best defined agenda of any of the presidential candidates.
* Creating a single-payer system of universal health care that provides full coverage for all Americans. * The immediate withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq and replacing them with an international security force. * Guaranteed quality education for all, including free pre-kindergarten and college for all who want it. * Immediate withdrawal from the World Trade Organization (WTO) and North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). * Repealing the USA PATRIOT Act. * Fostering a world of international cooperation. * Abolishing the death penalty. * Environmental renewal and clean energy. * Preventing the privatization of social security. * Providing full social security benefits at age 65. * Creating a cabinet-level "Department of Peace" * Ratifying the ABM Treaty and the Kyoto Protocol. * Introducing reforms to bring about instant-runoff voting. * Protecting a woman's right to choose while decreasing the number of abortions performed in the U.S. * Ending the war on drugs. * Legalizing same-sex marriage. * Creating a balance between workers and corporations. * Ending the H1B and L1 Visa Programs * Restoring rural communities and family farms. * Banning hand guns.

lets see
* Creating a single-payer system of universal health care that provides full coverage for all Americans. * The immediate withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq and replacing them with an international security force. Too drastic...need phased withdrawal...and what international security force is going to do it? * Guaranteed quality education for all, including free pre-kindergarten and college for all who want it. * Immediate withdrawal from the World Trade Organization (WTO) and North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). * Repealing the USA PATRIOT Act. * Fostering a world of international cooperation. What the heck does this even mean cause its certainly not specific * Abolishing the death penalty. Definitely radical, although you already pointed that out * Environmental renewal and clean energy. * Preventing the privatization of social security. * Providing full social security benefits at age 65. * Creating a cabinet-level "Department of Peace" * Ratifying the ABM Treaty and the Kyoto Protocol. Very radical...way too radical * Introducing reforms to bring about instant-runoff voting. * Protecting a woman's right to choose while decreasing the number of abortions performed in the U.S. Does this seem contradictory to anyone but me? * Ending the war on drugs. Assuming he means legalizing/taxing this is clearly a radical position * Legalizing same-sex marriage. * Creating a balance between workers and corporations. Again seems pretty vague * Ending the H1B and L1 Visa Programs * Restoring rural communities and family farms. * Banning hand guns. The other that you acknowledged as being radical4/26/2007 4:41:00 PM |

yeah he has an agenda, but I can't take anyone seriously who actually moves foward with impeachment right now. its a waste of time, no matter how symbolic it may be. same thing back when it happened to clinton. it was more a dig on that then it was on his agenda.4/26/2007 4:45:12 PM |

^^ well, most people are opposed to the war in iraq but don't want to leave them hanging, so that point is fairly moderate.
Since when is world cooperation radical? We founded the UN for gods sakes, lol.
Death penalty, yes, radical in the US.
Kyoto protocol, no, not radical, most people want to see things done in this area. ABM treaty, honestly not sure how the public stands on this issue, other than not wanting to die.
The religious right may think this is radical but most americans would probably agree that allowing abortions to stay legal but trying to decrease the number of abortions performed is a good plan.
War on drugs. Most people I've talked to on both sides want to see this area reformed. Not many want legalization of everything, but they know the system we have now is not working. 4/26/2007 4:48:43 PM |

I just think with a position as high up and as important as the Presidency of the US, any bigtime changes will take lots of time...people like Bush and Clinton appealed to their respective parties, but they also seemed to have more of a moderate platform, at least in the campaigning stages...I mean he might be a great President, I just dont think realistically his ideas are moderate enough to win the nomination, let alone get elected 4/26/2007 4:53:14 PM |

his death penalty position isn't even what's radical. banning handguns is...but what really puts him on the radical nut map is being possibly the biggest socialist in Washington.
"Free" healthcare, "free" college, withdrawing from NAFTA, pouring ever more money into Social Security (one of the shittiest, most expensive welfare programs of all)...all of these are horrible ideas. If you've ever heard him speak in debates, he's even more socialist and ridiculous than this platform indicates.
