ok, packed up my computer for the move to atlanta and just unpacked it. Everything worked fine before I packed but now none of the usb devices are being recognized (keyboard, mouse etc)... CPU is coming on fine, windows sign in screen comes up but then I cant do anything...is there something stupid that I am forgetting??? (my brain is mush after the move, could be something really obvious)

Make sure all the cards and cables are seated properly. Things often come loose when computers are moved.

Yeah. Unplug and remove every cable from your computer. Then start from scratch and hook it all up again. If you have anything left over, you know you have a problem.

If it's a wireless mouse/keyboard... sometimes you have to press the reset button or take the batteries out and put them back in.

You could try restarting in safe mode, deleting all of the USB devices that are not working from device manager (anything not showing up should be visible in safe mode), then restart and plug them back in again.

Of course, I'm assuming you have a PS2 keyboard/mouse to use in the meantime...

I imagine you've tried swapping what USB ports you use to hook them up to?

There is a wierd thing in windows that it will have to install the devices again if you changes what usb port they are plugged in to.

Try to see if you can remember the exact port each was plugged into, and then plug them back in to that port.

Otherwise, you will need to actually log into the windows box for it to finish "Installing" the hardware to the different port you hooked it up to.

Hey, make sure your mouse and keyboard are in the TOP USB ports on the motherboard. Some mobo's whether it be an option in Bios or not only let you use the keyboard and mouse in the top two slots. Kind of like reserved for just those and the lower two won't work at all for keyboard/mouse. (Dell's specifically)

If you are looking at the back. The top two... mouse on the left, keyboard on the right. Try that and see what happens.
