Does anyone know if I need to get a permit to build a shed in my backyard?

I already have a shed but I'm going to tear it down and build a bigger one.

I'm jumping on wakegov.com now to look but didn't know if anyone has come across this already.

you need a permit to build a deck in the city of Raleigh... so I'd imagine they would require a permit for single story detached structures as well.

technically you do, if it's on a cement base. Many people don't though.

im pretty sure the answer is yes, but its more of a "im building this" declaration and it gets registered and goes in the paper and so on - its easy and probably better to do it so you dont have to worry about anything in the future when its built.

There is no HOA so I am straight there and it's not on a slab.
I am having power run to it so I think I probably should.

I'm just gonna call the permit office tomorrow and ask.
How about them apples.

you will need one if you're running power.. well if you want to build the shed legally.

Drop by their office downtown. They're very helpful.
