for the same price? i can't imagine a (normal) girl appreciating the added performance of the s2k to justify a 5-6 year age difference.
check out the mr2 spyder and soltice/sky also. spyder is a love it/hate it in the looks department, but a fun little car to drive.

the honda. at the same price point, the s2000 will be further depreciated = less % value lost during ownership, plus the s2k is a pretty reliable little car. But make sure she gets the glass rear window. I can't remember which year they changed that. It was either 2001 or 2002. glass in 5 years will still be glass, but a slightly scratched 6-7 year old plastic window will be miserable in another 5. that shit matters unless you really want to drive with the top down all the time. And if you want to drive with the top down all the time, you want a manual roof, not an automatic. And the miata's (manual softtop) roof is probably the easiest to operate. but put a year or two on the mx5.... that maybe teh winnar. 4/29/2007 8:31:07 PM |

the whole idea here is to stick with reliability.

my advice... stay away from the mazda. i'm coming up on the 7 year mark on my 626... pretty much top of the line everything (V6, leather, moonroof, alloys, etc.)... bought it off the lot with 6,000 miles on it. Comparatively, it isn't holding its value worth shit. My parents got it for me when I turned 16 (heh... also a dumb idea), but I definitely do not plan to ever own another Mazda after this one. Being a Ford relative is simply asking for tranny problems. Friend of mine from HS owns the exact same car... both have around 70-80k on them. His came brand spankin new off the lot and he's had major overheating issues all around. He's already been forced to replace the engine, among other things that a 6 year old car shouldn't need if driven reasonably.
Anyway, I know it's not a Miata... (they're pretty ugly little tiny cars anyway) but i'd recommend not getting a Mazda. My mom's Buick has around 240k on the original engine & tranny. Now that's reliability.

yea I dont recommend the mazda either, I drove an MX5 last summer and didnt really like it all that much compared to my MR2
my advice is to take them out on the road and notice the difference.
and i wish i knew if she was cute^ ncsukat there
she likes old Corvettes so she has that workin in her favor... good choice there now just find a picture of yourself to put in there haha 4/30/2007 12:17:21 AM |

^ yeah, I know. I was just referring to Mazda suckiness in general. (<- bored) (& i'm sure moparnum5 will appreciate you callin' off the dogs... lol)
personal pics & tww are never a good idea (Squirt can attest to that)... but maybe some day I'll add some, who knows 4/30/2007 12:48:07 AM |

Eh, I've heard good things in general about Mazda reliability. My grandma (yeah, I know, probably drove it like an old lady, but...) had a '99 626 that she bought in 2000 and just sold, and had no major problems with it in 7 years. And I've known people that have gotten very high mileage out of older 626's, 323's, and even a Miata or two.
(As a sidenote, she traded the 626 in on a new HHR with all the options. Looks a little odd to see a 78 year-old lady driving it, especially with the polished aluminum 17" wheels.) 4/30/2007 1:10:07 AM |

don't count out grandma. mine did things to a dodge stratus in only 7k miles over 5 years that i haven't seen happen on 207k mile 25 year old cars. 4/30/2007 1:12:42 AM |

i dont know.. but both the yellow and the black one had a price of $29K and $30K.
i thought they were much cheaper.
well, maybe in another year they would be popping up by private sellers for real cheap.
