as safe as you are as a rider, all it takes is one bad driver. why would you take that risk?

never. I mean, I know it MUST be fun, but still. when I'm changing lanes lackadaisically I just think of people on bikes... all it takes is one bad driver.

that's retarded. you can avoid risk and you should avoid risk when you can, especially when it's deadly.

well said...

Honestly, its that risk that pushes people to ride! I was deathly afraid of riding before i got my bike which pushed me to try it. But it has taught me to be a better car driver... YOu drive more defensively

And I feel like I do something that most GUYS and pretty much ALL girls are too chickenshit to do!

it's as safe as you are a rider + how well other people drive. i'd say your more depending on other people to drive right than you are yourself. scary thought.

case in point, i was royally screwed by a driver just not paying attention.

as has been said though, the thrill and experience riding is unexplainable to someone that's never done it. it's freakin awesome, nothing like it.

yeah, some people just have different expectations of what their life means to them, or their family for example. doesn't mean they're chickeshit or whatever.

personally, i'm itching to crawl back on a bike everyday. i'll never do it again though, if for nothing else for the sake of my family/friends that i've promised.

I've had an ultra shitty run of luck this year... and it completely convinced me I should never own a bike...

add to that, I passed by a white sheet motorcycle wreck on the way home the other night and I nearly clipped a harley last night who came flying up behind me while I was changing lanes...

I checked my mirrors, checked my blind spot, signaled, changed lanes and then WHAM(fortunately not litterally) there was a flickering single headlight directly behind me and I was like WTF!?! where the hell did that come from... when I got back over he went flying by me and was cutting traffic... but it scared the crap out of me b/c that made 2 people I almost killed this year...

Again... i will not own a bike because when it comes to adrenaline... i'm an addict and typically go into a more balls then brains mode.

no offense or anything, but you aren't "achieving" shit b/c you ride a bike...

that bit, and the fact that I fall off of regular bikes so much I'd rather not chance it much at 2-10 times the speed...

I'll get a bike as soon as there are better crash suits....

I find it funny that so many bike riders ride without helmets on.... (my eyes would hate me for that alone)

my dad was in a bike accident when he was my age.. (because of another driver, he was lucky he had a helmet on, the whole helmet was nearly sanded down to his face)

so we promised him we would stay away from bikes.

thats why i dont have one.

Some people are idiots on bikes... There is such a thing as Squids out there that dont wear gear, havn't taken the safety course and ride like thats their last day on earth (which it may as well be if they are drivng like that)

And riders that put safety first just nod in dissappointment as we see that shit...
You learn as a rider to ride as though no one sees you. You begin to pay closer attention to the driver's movement in and out of the car. You hesitate at intersections and make scenarios in your head of all the possible things that can happen.

You actually look for the danger before it happens.
But with that being said, even people that do that still can get hit. Its more how you trust yourself than trusting other vehicles because a good rider wont trust other vehicles and assume that they can't be seen

Here's the problem I have with motorcycles....

even if you are a good rider, do everything right, their are still other idiots on the road, and if they cause you to fuck up, you will be in a much less safe position than if you were in a car.

My uncle is in a nursing home, and I've seen a few brain-injured people who are in such a condition because of motorcycle crashes. Trust me, you dont want that shit to happen to you.

And Squirt here is one of the people that is dangerous on them. She talks like she has this riding thing down, when in reality she's been riding less than a year. Once you get too confident on these things, they will kill you.

kinda off topic, after riding for a while, who tries to center their body in the lane.. while driving a car? I know I do

oh, and P Nis, what exactly are you "becoming "by riding a motorcycle? It's a vehicle. It doesnt make your dick bigger. You wanna become something? make sure you're an organ donor, so when you crash your shit, they can give what's left of you to someone who needs it.

you're an idiot Mr E Nigma and Crede all you're doing is stating the obvious, go back to chit chat..

every motorcycle rider knows the risk associated with the sport.

I've been riding for 3 years and have probably around 25-30k under my belt on them if not more and I can judge when someone is a good rider or not.

Squirt rides within her limits and is doing an excellent job for less than a years experience. Hell, not everyone starts off an expert. I'm not even that good at it after 3 years.

Your argument can apply to any situation. hell it's risky to fly an air plane or sky dive or even mow your damn lawn. Motorcycle riders aren't pussies who are going to live their life in a box saying, 'man i wish i did that'. they actually go out and do it.. hell if i get paralyzed tomorrow on my bike it would suck asshole but at least i tried to make some fun outta my life.

INSTEAD OF BEING A PUSSY AND TRYING TO TROLL MOTORCYCLE RIDERS IN A GAY ASS TDUB THREAD

I don't think you understand... You can be new at something and still be a safe rider. There are things as a rider that you do to decrease your chances of wrecking

When I first started riding, I knew I needed to ride with other people and by riding with other people, its like being in a pack:
- everyone looks after everyone
- it turns one small unseen bike into a huge group, which is much easily seen by cars

I don't talk like I know everything about riding, but I talk smart. I still don't know everything about riding and I learn how to be safe through other riders.

I could be riding for 30 years and still be learning!
But a good rider thinks about these things all the time!

I was never trolling, asshole. I'm just trying to figure out the mentality of a motorcycle rider... people on bikes must feel like they are temporarily immortal.

I guess me being a female rider you fail to read what I post so I will say this again: A smart rider rides as though he cannot be seen

And this was one of the first things I learned

YOu can talk to any one of my riding buddies and they can tell you how much of an improved rider I am

let me explain something about language to you.

When referring to a group of people, and excluding yourself, the proper term is "you"

If I was including myself, I would have said "we," now wouldnt I?
