So, long story short the battery in my 700m won't charge and I would like to diagnose the problem, hopefully before exams are over! If anybody has a 700m or 710m and is willing to take a minute or two out of their day to let me see if it's the batteries fault, it would be very much appreciated.

I don't have one, but I'd be willing to bet your battery died ... they don't always warn you before dying. Don't buy from Dell, they're expensive.

Alternately, did you check Dell's recall site to see if your battery is one of the recalled?

did u have the standard 6 cell or upgraded 9 cell (the one that sticks out the back)? i have a 700m but am no longer in the Raleigh area so i cant help ya out. but i was curious to know which one u had. also a good idea would be to check dell's forums as well; they are usually a lot of help.

^^ I think it's more likely that the port where the charger plugs in has broken loose from the motherboard. If it's wobbly, it's most likely broken.
