how much cap was he taking up?
5/1/2007 2:57:59 PM
damn that blows
5/1/2007 2:59:03 PM

:O
5/1/2007 3:02:04 PM
hahahaha
5/1/2007 3:02:13 PM
Now, Andy Reid can tamper with him as much as he wants. Reid said he wouldn't mind having Keyshawn on the Eagles at the draft, even though Mort said that he was tampering b/c Johnson was on the Panthers until now.
5/1/2007 3:02:15 PM
with smith, jarrett, carter, colbert and the robinson guy we got 5 recieversI would have liked to have Key for at least one more year while Jarrett eased into the number 2 role
5/1/2007 3:03:24 PM
you think this will be one of those cut and resign deals?cause he sure was talking up the Panthers at the draft this weekend
5/1/2007 3:05:50 PM
so what's going to come of all that "i'm gonna teach you"bullshitthat key was saying during the draftcould have been good for jarrett
5/1/2007 3:06:38 PM
5/1/2007 3:08:37 PM
I'm not so sure about thatWe would be better suited to spend the money on a safety
5/1/2007 3:09:45 PM
I hope we resign him to a 1 year deal, it would be great for Jarret.
5/1/2007 3:12:19 PM
yeah, I really would think that this would alienate Jarrett if we were to cut his would-be mentor so soon after the draft
5/1/2007 3:12:57 PM
Jarrett is 21 years old, its not like he needs a babysitterI'm sure smith and colbert, who he probably knows from USC, will be just fine
5/1/2007 3:14:23 PM
YES. Not that I like losing Key, but if we reallocate that $$ towards a safety then its a good move.
5/1/2007 3:15:55 PM
^^I know that, but Jarrett seems like the type of kid who has a big head and once he gets some money he could be steered in the wrong direction easily.I dunno, it just seems strange that we would drop Key out of nowhere like this without there being a good reason....Keyshawn was our 2nd best receiver last season, and is still consistent and reliable
5/1/2007 3:21:20 PM
I have a tough time remebering Key's season with us last year as :
5/1/2007 3:23:58 PM
5/1/2007 3:25:36 PM
the 3 million is weird tho. I guess they had no idea they'd be lucky enough to get Jarrett at 45, so they figured they were keeping Johnson for sure. But paying him that money for essentially nothing really stings now that he's gone.
5/1/2007 3:30:19 PM
damn, wtf.
5/1/2007 3:31:43 PM
This does not mean good things for the upcoming season.
5/1/2007 3:34:11 PM
How much cap space are we freeing up by releasing Johnson?
5/1/2007 3:35:46 PM
^^ignorant sports fan.one aging WR does not a team make.[Edited on May 1, 2007 at 3:36 PM. Reason : ^]
5/1/2007 3:36:02 PM
there gotta be a story behind this. Keyshawn was talking about retiring after last season anyway.
5/1/2007 3:36:03 PM
but it still frees up "cap" room, right? That 3 mil signing bonus just comes out of our owners pocket I think...maybe this had something to do with the situation (davidson dont like me!)http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2725180[Edited on May 1, 2007 at 3:38 PM. Reason : davie dave]
5/1/2007 3:36:21 PM
kinda funny they were just talking about him and the panthers on draft day and stuff
5/1/2007 3:36:31 PM
damn he wasnt due to make that much money either
5/1/2007 3:37:41 PM
tenn may take him, NE may take him WOW what a WR corp that would bePhilly needs him, so does Tenn and Green Bay. I could even see him playing for the chargers, they could use his size over the middle and good hands. would take alot off of Gates
5/1/2007 3:38:49 PM
there is absolutely no way in hell NE takes him
5/1/2007 3:39:44 PM
Why would NE take him? They already have too many overrated WR with big heads.
5/1/2007 3:40:02 PM
New Englands already got 6 recieversMoss, Jackson, Stallworth, Welker Caldwell and GaffneyThey're gonna be fun as hell to be on Madden[Edited on May 1, 2007 at 3:40 PM. Reason : x]
5/1/2007 3:40:42 PM
from the Charlotte paper
5/1/2007 3:43:33 PM
I could see San Diego signing him....they are terrible at WRPhil could have another weapon!
5/1/2007 3:48:28 PM
Vincent Jackson is basically the same receiver as Keyshawn: big, tall and slowThough it wouldn't surprise me with Norv Turner there.
5/1/2007 3:50:33 PM
adding keyshawn does not a "WOW!" make
5/1/2007 3:54:06 PM
5/1/2007 4:05:47 PM
either keyshawn is a good liar or he never knew. Im thinking he didnt know about it.
5/1/2007 4:08:18 PM
it would be hard to keep somethin like that from him for weeks though w/o him catching some kind of word of itbut if he didn't know i bet he was surprised this morning when he got called to hurney's office
5/1/2007 4:09:19 PM
From the way that he was talking during the draft, he didn't know. I wished he could have stayed in Carolina, but I think personally, he's going to Philly to play with McNabb.
5/1/2007 4:12:06 PM
Hurney is on Packmans show. He was asked if they hadn't drafted the WR would Keyshawn still be a Panther. His answer was yes.
5/1/2007 4:29:47 PM
5/1/2007 4:35:14 PM
4.46 for Vincent I didn't realize he was that fast.Though he doesn't play that fast during games.
5/1/2007 4:56:07 PM
what was jarrett's 40 time?I thought it was in the 4.5 range
5/1/2007 5:00:44 PM
it's so fucked up they did it right after the draft. keyshawn was all excited and shit; talking about how he's looking forward to mentoring the new receivers for one year before he retires.
5/1/2007 5:01:49 PM
HA HA...DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN THE ASS KEYSHAWN..GO BACK TO THE COWGIRLS WHERE YOU BELONG YOU FAGGOT

If only they would have cut him an hour or so after the Jarrett pick, while he was still on TV - would have been classic.
5/1/2007 5:30:17 PM
what a fucking boneheaded, short-sighted move
