I got the chance to take a ferry out to Ithra (Hyrdra) for a day trip during our month's stay with family over there during the summer after seventh grade

you know how you're not supposed to be old enough properly appreciate things when you're that age? I still say to this day that's the most gorgeous place I've seen during my brief stint here on this planet

there are no cars, just a little seaside port and tavernas, and a little seafood restaurant up on the cliff that I remember was a pretty good-sized gip

and the beaches were all rock beaches, and the water was coooooooold, and there were topless people even though there weren't supposed to be at that particular beach

i've heard good things about samos and mykonos as well... and crete, duh

I've been to mykonos, xios, and mitilini. My dad's family is from mitilini and xios. The only one of those I'd visit for tourist reasons is Mykonos, and it's a gorgeous, fun place. Lots of bars and clubs... it is extremely gay friendly, though, and most of the bars have tons of gay folks... if that's something you're not happy about, I dunno if you'd enjoy it.

what's you take on the ferry rides -- how much they cost vs. what kind of boat/what kind of ticket/high speed, etc?
