Even behind Duke or just last in our division? If it is just last in our division, then I can agree with that, but no way in hell should we be ranked behind Duke.

uhmmmmmm

we were coming off a 22-10 season in basketball, and this season we finnished 10 out of 12 in the acc.

it was a great season, what with beating unc at #3 and the acct run, but don't make it more than that.

(and for the record, i <3 sid lowe and hated sendek)

yes, i agree completely, but we still were coming off a decent season (1 and outs in the ncaa ftw) and still ended up 10/12 in the league.

so to say 'well look at what happened in basketball' as a reason that we shouldn't be predicted poorly in football after coming off an awful season and getting a new coach is ridiculous.

I'd much rather be predicted to do shitty and have a decent season, then have high expectations only to see us hanging out near the bottom of the standings.

Honestly, I don't think people know what to predict so its easier this way. Plus, I'm accustom to seeing us as an underdog and won't mind when O'Brien gives this list the bird.

There was no mention of any of our players or our team in the superlatives. That will change.

If I were an unbiased sportswriter I would probably put us last in our division, but 10th in the league with UNC and Duke behind us.

We haven't beaten UNC in like the last three meetings. I'm just saying. [/Stephen A. Smith]

Head to head matchups don't matter.

We've beaten Florida State twice in a row, and like 4 out of the last 6.

For Clemson, it's all about the O-line. They graduated EVERYBODY on that line and will be starting fresh. Think of it kinda like our D-line in 2003. Add to that they replace their QB and their star WR, it's going to be rough. If Spiller or Davis had there 3 years, they probably would have left (Spiller tried to). They're both phenoms but you can't do it all yourself.

we sucked ^Unc was worse than Duke last year and so were we. Duke got super unlucky in like 2-3 games they should have one. They definitely should have beaten Carolina last year.

Well Im not surprised that we are ranked last in our division given how shitty we were last year and how surprising the usual last place team (Wake) was. I was a little surprised with how much negativity this guy directed at the "BIG 3 basketball schools" in the ACC, though I can certainly see where he comes from. Look at the bottom of the page and it explains it perfectly: FLA writers hating on the basketball powerhouses in NC, trying to act like we have nothing to do with football because we are basketball schools. The ACC schools in FLA cant get their basketball programs jump started no matter what they do, so they assign that same label to us in football....

there wasn't even a mention of our running back corps. I think we could probably run even with clemson on that one MAYBE even better.

NC State got super unlucky choked hardcore in like 2-3 games 5-6 games that were easily winnable if we had a decent shred of offensive consistency ie. Wake, Clemson, Maryland, UVA, UNC, ECU

Baker and Brown did not underachieve. When defenses know your QB is incapable of throwing a pass over 10 yards, its hard to run the ball.

^^When are people gonna realize, it all comes back to O-Line. Name a team in the NFL or college that has been sucking it up and tell me they had a good O-line. Name a team that did really well and tell me they had a bad O-line.

Yes, OL is so very underrated because they arent the ones touching the ball.

Whereas Amato was a master at building top D- lines,
Red Tom is a master at building NFL caliber O- lines in college...
