someone explain how they did their new video 'typical'


I went to a show they did with Switchfoot about a year ago i guess it was...they are really a great experience live. Dont know if anyone has done a thread on them but plz2expln the vid

What's to explain? They filmed it and then played it backwards.

Spike Jonze did this eleven years ago, with "Drop" by the Pharcyde, and Michel Gondry one-upped him on Cibo Matto's "Sugar Water" by having the same video play in reverse on the left side of the screen and forward on the right half, and they meet in the middle and match up a number of times.

I had forgotten about this one. There was a time when MTV showed some great shit late at night. That's the first place I saw this, "Rabbit in Your Headlights," "Smack My Bitch Up," "Around the World," and all kinds of other cool stuff. *sigh*



Still, I think Spike wins the long-shot-reverse-video contest by hitting it in '96.

ive seen them twice this year already... their live show is awesome and i think it translates ok to the cd.. but the live show is where its at... i cant wait to see them at bonnoroo this summer
