Quote : | "JENKINS TIPS THE SCALES AT 384
Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp has lost 49 pounds in the 2007 offseason.
We now know who found it.
A league source tells us that Panthers defensive tackle Kris Jenkins weighed in at last weekend's minicamp at a jaw-dropping (and raising . . . and dropping . . . and raising) 384 pounds.
Jenkins is listed at 335 pounds. So that would put him at 49 pounds over his playing weight.
Before the draft, the veteran run stuffer (and toilet clogger) was on the trading block. And it apparently broke.
The irony here is that Jenkins hates Sapp. As Jenkins once said of Sapp, "He talks too much, he doesn't make sense, he's fat, he's sloppy, he acts like he's the best thing since sliced bread. He's ugly, he stinks, his mouth stinks, his breath stinks, and basically his soul stinks, too."
Who's fat and sloppy now, Kris? Sapp at 285? Or Jenkins at 384 -- a full 99 pounds heavier than No. 99?" |

He'll probably have another big injury this year.....he just doesn't take care of himself. I wish we could have pulled the trigger on a draft day trade.....i'd love to be calling Landry a panther right about now. 5/9/2007 2:51:41 PM |

Maybe we wanted to move him because we knew he was spending too much time at the golden corral in the offseason. 5/9/2007 3:32:24 PM |

i'll bet if the Cats were to trade him he'd go all 'Sean Gilbert with the Panthers' on some other poor team
hopefully we can at least steal some high draft picks like the Redskins did from us 5/9/2007 5:11:12 PM |

if he could stay healthy at that weight, he'd be the perfect nose tackle in a 3-4. 5/10/2007 2:52:33 PM |

This is discouraging but he should have no problem losing 40 lbs in minicamp.
2 a days in 100 degree heat tend to do that.
It's a shame how far this guy has fallen in only a few seasons. Our rush defense was pretty sketchy last year and we need this guy to become a pass rusher again. He's not gonna be able to do that at 350+ pounds.
He's still probably the most talented DT in the NFL so here's hoping he makes an improbable comeback if he manages to stay on our roster. 5/11/2007 12:03:32 AM |

Jenkins' Run Blocking ++ Jenkins' Pass Rushing -- Jenkins' Cholesterol ++ Jenkins' overall value @ 384 ?? 5/11/2007 11:48:00 AM |

In all seriousness, I hope Jenkins can get back into playing shape. He and Dan Morgan are an important asset to the Panthers in September.5/11/2007 1:08:41 PM |
