to be specific:
'55 second series - '56 chevy 3100 (1/2 ton). stepside is prefered, but i can deal with a shortbed fleetside.
'72 c10. stepside is prefered, but i can deal with a shortbed fleetside.

anyone know of any of these trucks around that are for sell? it doesn't have to be pretty, and i won't mind minor issues, like non-working a/c. i'm just looking for a daily driver to get between work and home for now, and hot rod later on. photos, price, and contact info would be helpful. pm me if you don't want to publicly post the contact info.

thanks.

the 55-56 is going to cost you a pretty penny if it's even close to driveable. no clue on the 72 c10

ummm...to the best of my knowledge, '58 was the first year for fleetside anyway.

^^ nah, drivable ones can be as low as $5k. they're too far away though. same for '72 c10's. i've seen a couple "good engine and tranny" c10's for $3k, but they were rusty as hell.

^ you're technically right. the cameo trim had straight beds. the cameos were replaced by the "fleetsides" in '58.

you sure? i thought the 307 was the smallest v8 offered in those. there was the 250/292 i6 though...

[Edited on May 13, 2007 at 10:46 PM. Reason : unless it's been swapped for a 283 v8 or something...]

it would be a 283. wiki says that is factory stock.

um, wiki is wrong then. the 283 was dropped for 68 and was replaced by the 307 and 396. 69 saw the 350 option. i could be wrong, but i'm damn near 100% positive i'm right. lemme google around...

like i said, it could be a 283 swapped in but it's not factory 1969.

which wiki are you looking at? straight from the c/k history page there:

Quote :
"In 1968, the 283 in³ (4.6 L) V8 was replaced with a 307 in³ (5.0 L) and a 310 hp 396 in³ (6.5 L) V8 was offered for the first time."

how much? color, engine, tranny, pictures? and i thought all stepsides were shortbed?

i'm more or less shopping for style > utility. that's why i'm looking at those specific years and a shortbed stepside. i'll consider almost anything if the price is right though. btw, i probably won't be buying for 2 weeks, unless i get financing before then. i just want to see what's all out there.

I got a 68 c10 i'm looking to sell. Looks the same as the 72. Its got a 350, fairly built, engine was dropped in it by the previous owner from a hot rod. Its got a 350 turbo tranny in it, pretty good condition, some rust around rear fenders. Shortbed, fleetside, cowl hood, paints pretty good, blue. As far as the engine goes, like i said 350, cams good, true dual exhaust, headers, holly carb(unsure of cfm), edlebrock intake, don't know about the heads on it. I don't know the actual mileage. Its in good condition, don't really want to sell it, but i need the money, plus i rarely drive it, so theres not much point in me keeping it. I'm asking 5000 for it. PM me if you, or anyone else is interested. I'll send photos.
