I would have to agree with this topic. After being a HUGE NBA fan for years I just quit watching for the past 7 or 8 years but these playoffs have been very entertaining. 5/16/2007 12:49:00 AM |

looks like just a bunch of flagrant fouls to me. Hell, in this GS vs Utah series, theres been 5 or 6 cheap shots already. Not the mention the shots b/t nash and bowen etc
but def. some emotion being shown 5/16/2007 12:52:09 AM |

i will say that i've enjoyed the nba playoffs this year moreso than those of recent years
and on a side note, espn has completely abandoned its nhl coverage... i realize that's a product of having no tv contract with the league and having one with the nba, but still 5/16/2007 11:40:53 AM |

in that order

the nba playoffs are always nice
last years playoffs outshadowed the ncaa tourney by far
the pacers/pistons series a few years back was nuts 5/16/2007 6:31:09 PM |

i think the 2004 playoffs were also the first time a lot of people heard of dwayne wade
he dunked over some dude for the pacers(i think?) in the first round(believe they lost in the first round and got shaq later that summer) 5/16/2007 6:35:26 PM |

i've always been a huge NBA fan, but i'll admit that the league wasn't very fun to watch from 1999-2003. Since 2004, though, it's definitely been entertaining again.
and yes, that pistons-pacers series in 2004, when tayshaun had probably the biggest block of the past 20 years, was incredibly nuts. it was reggie miller's last season, and the media kept talking about reggie reggie reggie the entire playoffs. that particular game, reggie basically carried the pacers back from a huge deficit in the fourth quarter. then he got that steal and was about to tie the game with a lay-up, and i was like "oh shit. now i gotta hear about reggie miller and how freaking great he is for the next month...crap..." but no!! tayshaun prince to the rescue!! he came out of nowhere, threw reggie's shit at the rim, and literally jumped out of my seat. freaking amazing.
to reggie's credit, last week he was color commentating a playoff game, and someone dunked on a fast-break with a defender trailing them - reggie commented "see, that's what i should've done. instead i tried to lay it up and tayshaun got me..."
[Edited on May 16, 2007 at 6:44 PM. Reason : had to talk about that block. shit was tight.] 5/16/2007 6:38:01 PM |

^ i hear you, wish they had gone farther in the playoffs though. unfortunately those were also the years in which teams regularly scored in the 70's and 80's. 5/16/2007 6:48:18 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148450 Posts user info edit post |
yeah...i guess for me personally, the only real down years for my own personal tastes were the years where charlotte didnt have a team 5/16/2007 6:49:15 PM |

actually i shouldnt have made this thread until the regular season actually became interesting. but what make this playoffs special is how much the fans are into it. golden state, jazz, lakers, etc. everybody is hyped up dallas, san antonio, the fact that i even know who is in the playoffs speaks great volumes. 5/16/2007 6:54:38 PM |

regular seasons in most sports dont get interesting to the casual fan until the last month
if the nfl played 82 regular season games it would lose a lot of interest from casual fans] 5/16/2007 7:00:34 PM |
