2007 Draft Lottery is on May 22 and the 2007 NBA Draft is on June 28
Hopefully the Bobcats can grab the 1st or 2nd pick and get Durant or Oden, if not we should pick around 8th and then again at 22 from Toronto.
an interesting mock draft here, http://www.nbadraft.net/#
ESPNs coverage here, http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2007/index
The Chinese prospect Yi Jianlian stock is rising fast right now, as is Corey Brewers. I wouldnt mind having either of these guys and possibly Julian Wright, Brandan Wright, or Al Horford if we cant get Oden or Durant.

but seriously, its a good thing they signed Big Ben, haha, not
I honestly dont care who gets anyone as long as the Bobcats can grab Durant or Oden
hell they can take McBob with the 22nd pick if they get them and I wouldnt care. 5/21/2007 8:51:23 AM |

well they wont get the chance
He is predicted at 3 to 5
if we dont get pick 1, 2, or 3 then we pick 8th as long as no one with less of a chance at winning the lottery get ahead of us
if that happens we could be picking 9th, 10th, or 11th
Wright wont be there at 9, 10, or 11 im sure and the only chance of us taking him is if we get the 3rd pick and I think with the way things are going right now we would take Yi Jianlian or Corey Brewer with the 3rd pick
so yeah, i'll take your bet that they wont pick him high (as in 3rd) 5/21/2007 9:02:53 AM |

I was really hoping we could get Brewer in this draft if we didnt pick top 3. Looks like thats out the window.
If we get a top 2 pick we're only 2-3 seasons away from being Eastern Conference contenders.
If we pick 8th and get someone who can help us we should be a playoff team next year. 5/21/2007 9:53:03 AM |

nah the Ben Wallace signing is pretty much disastrous.
Chicago had a nucleus that had the potential to be championship contenders. Now they're straddled with an aging player with limited ability and an unmovable contract.
They would have been better off keeping Chandler at 2/3rd the price or signing a post player that could help them offensively.
As it is now they'll be lucky to get out of the first two rounds for the next 3-4 seasons more than once.

well yeah, he is is limited, but he's still somewhat productive with what he does best (even though his numbers are dropping from his peak years)...i think he'll still be of fair quality for another year or two, when he could be used as trade bait 5/21/2007 12:18:17 PM |

Personally, I'd rather Charlotte not take an international player because there is always the question mark of how he will perform against NBA competition.
If we can't get one of the top two, I say go for Horford and then Noah 5/21/2007 12:28:46 PM |

its gonna be tough to trade an aging guy with declining skills who is becoming a dinosaur under the new rules. Particularly when he has a long term deal at $15 million per season.
One dimensional defenders just aren't as important with the new handchecking rules and he's no longer the dominant rebounder/shot blocker/defender that he once was.
His total ineptitude offensively puts too much of the scoring burden on Hinrich/Gordon/Nocioni to make their jumpshots.
Without an offensive post presence I don't see the Bulls getting it done.
Quick look at their cap situation:
Hinrich's extension kicks in next season (5yrs ~$47mil)
Luol Deng and Ben Gordon have two more seasons before they can test free agency. (Both likely to get max deals or damn close to it)
Ben Wallace has three seasons left at ~$45 million
They've got Sefolosha and Tyrus Thomas locked in at nice prices for the next few seasons.
Nocioni is a free agent this year and will probably get in the 6-7 million range. I think he'll stick around he's a fan fave in Chicago.
They've got to find a viable replacement for PJ Brown unless he agrees to come back for a small price.
It seems to me they'd be best off moving Deng and a pick for a guy like Pau Gasol.
The draft order is really going to determine their future. If they can get Durant they are golden but otherwise they need to make moves quick before their cap flexibility is completely destroyed by extensions. 5/21/2007 12:30:16 PM |

I think Id honestly rather pick 8th than 3rd.
Since 3-8 is so similar I'd rather save the $ so we can go after a free agent.
Not a fan of locking up another iffy NBAer like Morrison to a big deal. 5/21/2007 12:40:49 PM |

Not highly likely, but Brewer could be there at the 8 spot. Oden, Durant, Horford, Yi, Noah, B & J Wright, Green, Hibbert, and Mike Conley could all go before him. It's pretty unlikely ... and if I get the third pick, I'm taking Brewer ... but just maybe he falls to them.
If not, I'd take Al Thornton at 8. Guy seems to be pretty good all-around.
And can somebody tell me why Brandon Rush isn't projected to go any higher?? Good athlete, damn good 3-point shooter, good defender, and great size for a 2-guard. Yet he's projected low 1st round/early 2nd. I don't get it. 5/21/2007 12:44:06 PM |

Fate probably won't let the Cats have a top 2 pick, but I'd love it if we got it. That being said, I'm seeing us around 7-10. If we choose Noah, I'm going to become a Magic fan.
Yi won't slide to us, neither will Horford or Brewer. I'd take Julian Wright or Roy Hibbert and think they would fit well with the other Cats

the SportsFag Bill Simmons ranked the teams based on who deserves Oden or Durant the most
and his fag boston ass put the flopping, tanking, miserable Celtics 2nd, go figure
Quote : | "9. BOBCATS (No. 8 in the Ping-Pong order)
Bad Luck -- 6 Front Office Competency -- 5 Loyalty/History -- 0 Level of Devastation -- 3 Overdue Good Karma -- 1 Tanking Karma -- 10 Rigging Potential -- 5 Entertainment Value -- 8
Final karma score: 38
Comments: Given that the NBA misfired so badly with Charlotte as an expansion city, watching the Bobcats land Oden or Durant would be more frustrating than watching Zach Braff make out with Scarlett Johansson. On the other hand, is there a goofier nucleus than Ray Felton, Gerald Wallace, Emeka Okafor, Sean May, Walter Hermann, Matt Carroll, Adam Morrison and Durant/Oden? I'm giving them an "8" for entertainment value just in case it happens. Can't help myself. It's like somebody threw together a fantasy team and bought them uniforms, a coach and a crowd." |
at least he admits the obvious tanking by the Celts, giving them a 0 for tanking karma
Quote : | "1. Bad Luck -- How much of a role did injuries and bad breaks play during the 2006-07 season for each team's lottery appearance? Ten points for the most bad luck.
2. Front Office Competency -- How much of a factor did organizational incompetency play in each team's lottery appearance? Ten points for the most competent front office.
3. Loyalty/History -- How loyal is each team's fan base and how rich is its history? Ten points for richest loyalty/History.
4. Level of Devastation -- If it doesn't get Oden or Durant, how catastrophic will the damage be for each team's fan base and organization? Ten points for most catastrophic.
5. Overdue Good Karma -- Considering everything good and bad that's happened to each lottery team for the past generation (15 years), how overdue is each team for a break? Ten points for most overdue.
6. Tanking Karma -- How much of a role did tanking play for the Ping-Pong positioning of each team? Ten points for the least tanking.
7. Rigging Potential -- We'd never insinuate that the NBA could ever rig the lottery because, obviously, that would be a felony. But if the league WAS to rig the lottery, which lottery teams would be the most appealing destinations for Oden and Durant (factoring in television ratings, merchandising, history, caliber of roster, franchise security and general media buzz). Ten points for the most rigging potential.
8. Entertainment Value -- For the average fan, what's a best-case scenario for the top-two lottery winners in terms of "Which teams would become fun to watch right away", "What would make the best sports story" and "Would the results cause rioting in New York?" Ten points for the most entertainment value." |
