i don't know much about macs, so this may sound like a stupid question.

my parents have a mac mini that runs os x 10.3 (panther). they just bought the airport extreme base station that requires os x 10.4 (tiger). i've already trying installing it anyway but it won't work. is there something that i can download to take this computer from 10.3.9 to 10.4.X? or do we have buy the tiger software?? HELP!!!

From what i've read, you need 10.4. You have to buy that.

Alternatively, if there's a Windows computer in the house, you can set it up with Windows. Otherwise, they'll have to upgrade OS X.

After it's set up, everything else should work normally.

with the new os about to drop, 10.4 should be pretty cheap
