http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/?p=49

His stock probably dropped a bit, but I still think he'll be a Top 10-15 pick and get a huge signing bonus. Of course he has had off the field issues (most of us know what that means) but I'd rather he not go in to a hole of an organization like KC or TB...

Though arm fatigue after 78 IP might drop him significantly if it isn't explained...

from keith law's blog on espn

Quote :
""• Meanwhile, Andrew Brackman's stock continues to slip. His altered delivery has reduced his velocity and hurt his control all spring, and he missed his last regular-season start due to "fatigue," which is not a word that gives scouting directors a lot of confidence when they're thinking about using a first-round pick on a player. Brackman is scheduled to pitch Saturday in the ACC tournament against Georgia Tech; how he pitches on that one day, with two weeks of rest and a mediocre spring sitting on his shoulders, will go a long way towards determining how far he falls next month.""

Brackman was thought of as a possible top overall pick last year at this time and the off field issues was the girlfriend who was on TWW that got killed (duchess).

V oh, in that link I posted it said she was his g/f

They broke up a long time ago.

And while its common to sometimes say bad things about exes that you may not really mean after you break up (prior to the tragedy)... not going into it any further because its not appropriate

I wouldnt blame that on his poor performance this season

Damn. I want him in the A's farm system, not our divisional rivals...

I also can't see how Emily could be the reason for his off the field issues. No way, man....

I don't know. The article mentioned the death of his former g/f. I didn't see 'former' the first time I read it and had no idea that they broke up because it really wasn't my business or important enough for me to care.

I'd like to see him go in the Top 10 or fall to the bottom of the first round and maybe to the Red Sox or Twins..

"
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Righthanded pitcher Andrew Brackman is not on NC State’s 25-man roster for the Columbia, S.C., Regional and will not pitch this weekend for the Wolfpack.
Brackman, who has been sidelined since mid-May with mild inflammation in his right elbow, threw a brief bullpen session at Doak Field at Dail Park on Wednesday before the NC State team left for Columbia. He still experienced discomfort with the elbow, and head coach Elliott Avent decided that Brackman would be best served by not pitching this weekend.

“After Andrew experienced continued discomfort in his elbow during yesterday’s bullpen session, I made the decision not to jeopardize his future by trying to pitch in this weekend’s regional,” Avent said. “We would love to have him available this weekend, but I just don’t believe it would be in his best interests. If we advance, we certainly hope to have Andrew available for the Super Regional next weekend and beyond.”

Brackman, who is 6-4 with a 3.81 ERA, made his last appearance May 12 at Virginia.

man if i were a pitcher i would just go pro straight out of high school.

The more time you give a scout to evaluate you, the more flaws they find.

The more innings you pitch, the more arm issues you start to have.

And everytime I pitched to an aluminum bat I think id see my life flash before my eyes

from what i've read at various places brackman is probably gonna drop out of the first round in tomorrow's first year player draft. i guess the combination of not throwing the last month of the season with possible injury and having scott boras as an "advisor" will do that to you. oh well.. best of luck to him anyway... he'll still probably be a millionare by the end of the day tomorrow or close to it

^^ there's a ton of research that show players coming out out of high school don't perform as well in the majors as those who go to college

He should play basketball again. We would have the sickest front court in the ACC

Costner, McCauley, Brackman, Hickson, Furgeson. That rotation cannot be stopped.

As they shouldn't. There are at least 30-50 players better than he is RIGHT NOW. Though I'm not sure how many have the potential he has if he were to get over whatever crap he's dealing with.

that write up on SI.com said it's rumored he needs Tommy John surgery. That would certainly explain the drop in velocity. Sucks for him if that's the case.
