Do you think it's likely that our generation might endure a Cold War between Russia and other states in the near future? Do you believe arms race = Cold War?

Some of the people on here could potentially be spooked by this, and with good reason.

i think what our country needs most is a proper war between Russia or China - it will do two things:

1) It will remind the pacifists that appeasement never wins
2) It will remind the chicken-hawks that war does, actually, suck

Well, in reality our missile shield would not be able to stop a russian missile attack anyway; the "threat cloud" of actual warheads plus decoys that are also launched from the missile would easily overwhelm our limited system, so their statement is technically true. However I doubt that this new missile has new technology designed to actually defeat a missile shield, Im pretty sure they are bluffing on that.

John F. Kennedy stood up to the Soviet Union.
You must remember, the times we are speaking of.
In October, 1962.. the world almost came to and end.

ha, we came a lot closer than the Cuban missile crisis. Thanks to the patience of Soviet Generals, there was no WWIII. There were many ( ie a shit load) of false positives on the Launch Detection system that the soviets were using, but thankfully, ever single commander of that base waited for confirmation that a missile actually touched down before firing.

pretty much.... problem is he isn't going after the organized crime so much as he's in their pocket...

our 'missile shield' is for the iran's, china's, and n. korea's of the world... guys that at most could lob less than a dozen at us.... not for russia which could launch more than a few dozen simultaneously....

plus if we did expand it, the expansion would be obvious....

Im not really convinced the missile shield could stop even 2 ICBMs launched with full countermeasures. It damn sure could not stop a russian barrage of missiles
