I was curious, If you are able to graduate in December 2007, but all of your friends, classmates, etc. graduate in Spring 2008, is it possible to Delay your walk and ceremonies? Obviously I don't mean delay my degree.
I ask this because it would be nice to share that big moment with a majority of friends, rather than a handful of people.
Thanks in advance. 6/2/2007 11:31:12 AM |

you dont plan on getting a job the whole semester, just waiting to graduate with your friends? It still will not be the same, you will be out of school for a whole semester.....go ahead and graduate, it isnt that big of a deal to wait a semester...I graduated in Dec and I thought it was better b/c it is smaller.
Are you going to consult your friends before you apply for a job?
Waste money, take a PE....at least you will be still in college...and not away for months just to come back and graduate.

i didn't even go to graduation(and have never regretted it)...but if you are going to go, you might as well go when you graduate. the whole novelty will have worn off after 5 months and you won't be excited to walk with your friends. 6/2/2007 2:45:04 PM |

I'm pretty sure he means nothing about staying in college another semester and not getting a job and such. All he wants to know is if he can walk in May rather than December simply to share the moment with his friends and such. 6/2/2007 10:28:06 PM |

I graduated in December. Trust me life is a whole lot different once you get into "career mode". You will still love good ole NC State, but you won't care about graduating 5 months later. Walk when you graduate. 6/2/2007 10:37:16 PM |

I agree walk when you graduate. In addition, skip the big one unless you have a lot of family who really want to go because it sucks and you don't get real recognition there unless you just finished your phd. The small one was awesome, but many majors limit the amount of people you can bring. 6/2/2007 11:57:46 PM |

The small graduation ceremony is much more personal. I also like it better than the Spring one. But, if you want the excitement of the big one and walking with your friends is special to you, then wait. You can work in the semester you are off and those who come back and walk after working, find it very meaningful. Not that many do that, but for those who do, its because they thought it would mean something to them and it did.
Trust your gut and do what feels best to you. 6/3/2007 8:14:55 AM |

Graduate, and then come back and walk with your friends again. Though I have a feeling that after 6 months you'll be way over it.
Trust me, it's not that exciting. At all. zzz. 6/3/2007 5:07:00 PM |

walk twice in the big graduation. No one ask you if you are a graduating senior they all just assume that since you have on the cap and gown you are graduating. 6/5/2007 9:20:01 AM |

I really liked my departmental graduation. It has some friends and family, and then we had a celebratory meal with even more friends and family. You could have a celebration with all your friends by inviting them to the graduation or graduation party, so even if they aren’t walking for another semester, you can still share the experience. And they can be jealous that they aren’t done yet. 6/5/2007 6:26:05 PM |
