i'm going to buy a grill from home depot in about a week (must be from HD due to gift cards - not selling/trading them) - list any recommendations/reviews here - would like to spend less than $600 including cover & tax

weber performance charcoal with gas assist lighting. all the flavor and smoking ability of charcoal without having to wait as long. only $299 so you could pay tax and get a nice cover and grill accessories and still have money left to blow on something like

or if you're dead-set on gas, any of those higher-end weber grills would be good. i've never used a "charmglow" grill before, but stainless grills to me always seem like they're overpriced just b/c they're shiny and stainless steel.

i'll second that Weber Performance charcoal w/ gas assist. it is worth its weight in gold.

plus it comes in multiple colors, or at least it did a couple years ago.

not 100% dead set on gas but i will probably end up going that way this time - i agree with the stainless comment and the look of the grill means nothing to me

i would like a small smoker to go along with the grill down the road i think though - haven't eaten a lot off of a smoker before but where i moved to in atlanta - down the street is an ncsu grad i met and he cooked some chicken on his smoker a few weeks ago and it was amazing

^^^ yeah smokers are great if you have the room to store one and the time to cook on them, especially doing ribs or any kind of bbq. for your 600 you could always swing a decent, smaller gas grill and a good smoker too. i mean honestly, how often are you going to use every square inch of cooking surface on one of those giant $600 gas grills?

Dad's got a Charmglow, 'tis a nice grill. It's less than 2 years old though, so I can't say much one way or the other about reliability. So far so good.

Get an offset firebox smoker. I have one and it is well worth it, phenomenal for pork shoulders. Ribs, wings, and brisket have all turned out great as well.

I have a Charmglow that has to be at least 5-10 years old. It's mounted to my deck and hard fixed to the gas line so I never need to change a tank. I replaced the burner in it when we moved in and have used it every month of the year for 2 years now with no problems.

^^ I thought about getting a natural gas one for my deck too, but I decided against it because of the cost of running the gas line. I ended up with a Fiesta stainless grill from Home Depot which has been really good. It was nowhere near $600 though, so I don't think it is what Omar is looking for. I'm grilling some lamb chops tonight!

I've got a regular old round Weber charcoal grill that works great. For bbq, I use wood coals on a little cider block pit I built.

I have this hoss for $170 from HD



and by far is better than any Weber grill for the money.....Cast Iron grates, you can grill, smoke, etc. Sturdy built, plenty of room.

And please don't spend $texas on a gas grill.....just use your oven instead and buy some beer to offset the taste

Buy a little portable tailgating grill for $30 that you can fit in the back of a car, use the difference to buy season football tickets ($290/ticket if memory serves), and still have plenty of beer money left over

Or buy a nice gas grill, the season football tickets, and a portable propane grill ftw.

On a portable note...I've had the little Weber #1520 for almost a decade now and it rocks. It was my main grill for about three years when I was living in Kensington Park and a couple of rental houses. I'm planning to take it with me to Kure Beach this weekend.
