For anyone who has read the books this could be interesting. If Golden Compass makes good money, I would bet this would be greenlighted quickly if it hasn't already

Elfstones is probably my favorite, maybe Wishsong, so that would be awesome. The focus on the post-apocalyptic elements makes it sound like Armageddon's Children is what they're doing though.

Guess they want to do one of the stand alone books to see how it does before moving on to the more interlinked stories like Heritage or the newer trilogies.

My only concern is that his stories tend to be a lot longer than LOTR's so may not translate to film as well. Though I guess in a lot of the earlier books that was inexperience and a lot can be trimmed without to much loss. I almost would prefer to see them do them as miniseries though like Song of Fire and Ice.
