http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/04/mt-reports-cadillac-cts-v-gets-600hp-corvette-blue-devil-engine/
Quote : | "The MT crew has learned that the supercharged V8 slated for use in the next-gen Cadillac CTS-V will be none other than a "detuned" version of the 7.0L LS7 powerplant debuting in the Corvette Blue Devil, or rather, Corvette Z07. The MT editors expect the version used in the CTS-V to produce about 600 horsepower, or around 100 horses short of what the Z07 will produce.
In short, the CTS-V will offer the same amount of horsepower as the 2008 Dodge Viper, which is pure insanity. GM's got stones, folks, and Cadillac is clearly the prime beneficiary of its newfound fortitude. " |

i was gonna post about that too!
seems very likely, considering what Bob Lutz has said in the recent past:
Quote : | ""The next-generation Cadillac CTS-V will have "a power level only described as unexpectedly high,” GM vice chairman Bob Lutz told Car and Driver. He described the vehicle as "flat-out incredible. I’ve never driven anything like that." " |
key word being unexpectedly.
Quote : | "While this latest rumor might sound too good to be true, GM's Bob Lutz was recently quoted saying the 2009 CTS-V "will be at a power level only described as unexpectedly high." Then referencing the current BMW M5, Lutz said the CTS-V “will suck the doors off” the competition if the next M5 isn't significantly better." |
So it will kill the M5 and E63 AMG in straightline performance, but will it kill them on the track?6/6/2007 2:24:03 PM |

I'd kill for one just to line up next to a guy with a Viper and proceed to give him a run for his money, with the wife and kids in the car. 6/6/2007 2:25:09 PM |

ok now you getting ahead of yourself
viper does 0-60 in 3.9.
considering that the M5 does 0-60 in 4.2, MAYBE it is possible that the new CTS-V will reach 3.9, but more likely 4.1 or 4.0.
however, you would probably beat a viper because the viper dude is gonna be like "LOL a cadillac", so he won't floor it but will take it easier. but you, knowing that, would floor it and beat it (and then your wife will beat you when you get home!). 6/6/2007 2:30:49 PM |

most american cars are junk... but there are 4 or 5 that i'd love to own.
Most euro cars are over priced... but then there is VeeDub (who gets you with maintenance) 6/6/2007 3:47:52 PM |

have they figured out how to avoid axle hop and get rid of breaking diffs?
and way to screw yourself out of every racing class you have the "cts-v" running in. 6/6/2007 8:40:40 PM |

If it launches as bad as the current CTS-V then I don't see it getting to 60 faster than any of the current uber sedans. 6/6/2007 9:35:02 PM |

^WANT
Wonder if the STS-V is going to get that engine as well? I know the CTS-V is the "performance flagship" of the Cadillac lineup, but I just think their art & science or whatever design theme works a lot better on the STS. Though, from the above picture, it looks like they may have fixed some things that irk me about the current CTS.
And, for the love of God, get rid of that bulbous hulking center stack in the interior. Yes, it's angled toward the driver and does put your controls within arm's length, but...damn is it ugly. 6/6/2007 10:59:28 PM |
