"The web site Extremeskins.com is one of the success stories of the Internet sports world. Founded in May of 2000 as a place where intelligent discussion of the Washington Redskins was encouraged and trolls were banished, it became such an effective means of communicating with Redskins fans that the team formed a business partnership with the site in 2005.

Now Extremeskins has reached a new milestone: Having an active participant in its discussion's who's also a player on the active roster. Defensive end Renaldo Wynn confirmed to Dan Steinberg of the DC Sports Bog that he is, really, the guy who posts comments under the name Renaldo Wynn. (You can read his profile if you're a registered user.)

Wynn tells Steinberg:

"I had my laptop on, I said 'All right,' and I get on there and it blew me away. I'm like, 'Man, this is the real deal.' And I logged on man, I'm talking, and the next thing I know people start hitting me back, like, 'Is this really...?' Next thing I know, dude, I'm on there for like two hours. I got addicted. Instantly, man. I'm like going on, hitting people up, telling them what's really going on, getting my point of view across."

"I let 'em know, 'Look man, I've got thick skin, man. So trust me, be yourself and it won't cause me to be offensive or anything like that. Just go ahead and say what's on your mind, man. I can deal with it. I've got Smoot in the locker room. I know I can deal with him, so I can deal with y'all'."

thats pretty cool though that through the internet people can have that type of hands-on interaction with real players from their favorite team...kinda like when Berton was on here but he wasnt really an addict like Wynn

^^i bet that several of them browse/lurk occasionally

i doubt they post much though. especially on t-dub. i'm sure that the players have probably been instructed not to post here given the public opinion/reputation of t-dub.

but yeah i'm sure that at least a player or two from each of the big sports teams lurks here. i remember there was some youtube vid that apparently evtimov had posted about ferguson and someone made a thread about it here in sports talk and the video was quickly switched to private so we couldn't see it.

i think it's cool though. anyone that even semi-regularly reads these boards knows not to take anything said seriously and i doubt that any of em would be that affected by the endless bashing that goes on when we do poorly.

the only thing i'd ever be worried about is recruits (or worse, their parents) stumbling upon the site because most likely they won't be familiar with it and they will probably be offended or at least turned off by it. hopefully the recruits generally stick to the scouts, inc. boards or any other board than this one.

^it's funny that you'd think that your not telling him would actually prevent him from figuring out how to get on. i'm sure that someone else told him how almost immediately after he asked you.
