I will second Zeng the guy is crazy.

half the dept could go in here

^ I'm inclined to disagree with that statement...

I think this thread gets made every semester.
6/8/2007 12:26:03 AM
tu? are you serious? he's the shit. maybe he doesn't teach. but you learn enough to past his tests and get at lowest a B in his class. if you don't you should drop out immediately
6/8/2007 1:28:19 AM
I think i knew more about vibrations before i took mae 315 with tu.
6/8/2007 6:22:21 AM
well thats physically impossible, that means you would have "unlearned" some stuff.
6/8/2007 8:11:08 AM
I don't want a teacher who's not going to teach me anything. (can't teach/don't learn = bad teacher)
6/8/2007 9:20:42 AM
I had Tu for 316, and yes, I made an A quite easily, but I certainly didn't learn enough to adequately prepare me for 415...
6/8/2007 9:37:53 AM
yeah i was mad at the end of 316 i made a legit A and there were 20 in the class all the rest were 89<and i'm not a nerd but damnit when i do pwn a class i want it on record.
6/8/2007 10:46:34 AM
You guys in MAE should learn quickly that more than likely your professor isn't gonna teach you anything worthwhile and you better get a study group together quickly to learn it yourself. In my five years in the aerospace engineering program at NCSU, I had maybe four MAE professors who were actually effective teachers (not including TAs). I guess you can't count my first year as a freshman since I didn't take MAE classes and the two semesters I took off to co-op, but still that leaves six full semesters and two summer sessions.
6/8/2007 2:17:53 PM
^ completely correct
6/8/2007 2:55:25 PM
The thread wasn't about what we need to "learn quickly," it was about bad MAE profs.
6/8/2007 3:42:14 PM
the list would be shorter for good ones.buckner cassidy (grad student) bolesand fuggin MA is the worst! [Edited on June 8, 2007 at 4:39 PM. Reason : .]

^^ Ma was easy in Fluids, when she gave a free 100 on a test when she lost hers while on spring break. Also we had no homework and the tests were cake.
6/8/2007 6:36:01 PM
Well givin out 100's on all the tests is obviously easier than being reprimanded by Gould or some shit for making a class retake the whole test again, but you cant really count on gettin a test freebie when you take a course. I'd say she was just tryin to save her own ass.Ma has definitely changed some since I took her, she used to be a hardass gradewise on both fluids and heat xfer.
6/8/2007 7:09:49 PM
yeah she's fat lazy and can't teach for shit.working problems over and over and over isn't teaching
6/8/2007 7:52:15 PM
i think this thread can be summarized like this "I took MAE at NCSU and while I made good grades rather easily...i hope what i learned here is enough to get me started in the real world"I start my first ME job this coming monday ;x
6/9/2007 1:34:54 AM
when i had Ma she wasnt available outside of class at all and didnt even come after spring break. a little over 30% of the class failed.
6/9/2007 6:19:29 AM
6/9/2007 9:18:17 AM
I think I have all these profs next semester.
6/9/2007 1:37:51 PM
Well at the end of the semester you'll either be one of those people with straight A's wondering why some of us are so stupid, or you'll be thinking 'fuck, I shoulda listened to them.'^^^and that sounds like the good ol' Ma we loved to hate
6/9/2007 2:48:47 PM
[quote]You guys in MAE should learn quickly that more than likely your professor isn't gonna teach you anything worthwhile and you better get a study group together quickly to learn it yourself. quote]Completely agree with that. Study groups got me through school. But while we are on the subject. Seelecke was pretty bad
6/9/2007 4:05:52 PM
Hahaha yep I had him for statics. I was like "Damn, there is always one professor each semester that sucks."The next semester I had three. And they were all worse than Seelecke.
6/9/2007 6:42:13 PM
Tu is/was 1 of the nicest best professors i ever had. i took him for 316 and i went to him on occasion and he broke down the material and really helped me understand it all. how bout instead of making a "shit list" you go talk to these profs 1-on-1 and see what they can do for you to help you? you know, just a thought.
6/9/2007 11:15:53 PM
^ Multiple choice engineering tests?
6/10/2007 2:24:24 AM
fen wu. his flavor of engrish did not go well for 315, but then again the test were problems from the book so
6/10/2007 3:14:27 PM
did you fail his exam this past week or something?
