I'd like to get this done saturday morning. Any suggestions on a place who will do it pretty cheap. Just need the system evacuated/vaccuumed so i can recharge with 134a.

beyond the issue of environmental problems, I was reading somewhere that air gets in the line if you open it and the air causes trouble n teh recharge. I know there is a leak, so there may not be any in it anyway.

well when you fully charge a system you use a vacuum to make sure that there isn't any air in there

i just filled mine up without having it vacuumed out, is there much gain to be had by having it vacuumed and refilled like it's suppose to be? it's reasonably cold now but nothing great and on a hot day it's really not cutting it.. could that fix it?

^^ is your car factory R-134? if you have a R-134 in an R-12 system it's going to struggle in really hot conditions

and any system that uses fluid and is designed not to have air in it will run like shit if air does in fact get in, such as coolant and brakes

wrong.

yes its true that it will work best if you pull a vacuum first before charging the system, however it is not an absolute must.

anyone know where to rent a vacuum pump around raleigh? i called a few places but had no luck. I figrued if it wasnt too much to rent one, it would be worth it to make sure the system blows cold.
