So, pretty fucking awful grinding noise.. Only happens around 2K rpm's. Still happens with all belts removed so it isn't something simple like a pulley unfortunately. If I just floor it and get it up to 3k rpm's it doesn't make the noise then lol..also I couldn't get it to do it this morning when it was cold, but after warmed up damn it's getting bad..

sorry I don't know how to embed the shit..turn up the volume and about halfway thru it you'll know when you hear it.. The tranny has been thru a hellasous 150K miles so I figure it's probably something to do with that... any other ideas that don't involve a shit ton of manual labor? 6/9/2007 11:04:13 AM |

the only code was because i had the maf unhooked because i had the tubing from the air filter box to the intake taken off thus it wouldnt stay running with the maf plugged in.. if i plug it back in the check engine light will go off 6/9/2007 7:53:16 PM |

FLEXPLATE AGAIN!!!
had this problem on my 4runner, one day it just broke, but when it did it took the torque converter w/ it (sheared the pilot on the input side). Fix it b4 it breaks! 6/14/2007 9:13:20 AM |

either that or something is rubbing inside the bellhousing, should be easy to find, pull the tranny and look for shiny metal 6/14/2007 9:17:04 AM |

Yeah that's what it was ^ whoever rebuilt the motor did a shitty job of tightening up the torque converter to the flywheel.. shit was lose and rattling around but wasn't hard to fix.
So, no more crazy noises, and who wants to buy a tahoe? 6/14/2007 12:16:59 PM |
