no info on warranty yet (bout to find out tomorrow)

I like this one but the only thing that gets on my nerves is the accident and the color (red) and the price: 26k OBO

i guess thats true...i dont mind the smg on the 02 but the mileage is way too high dont you think?
the 01 seems like a good deal if i can get him to meet me at least at kbb price

early SMG I had problems. i would stay away. 6-speed all the way.

also if you are buying 01-'03.5 E46 M3 make sure rod bearing recall was performed or if not, that engine warranty was extended to 6yr/100k.

get a 6 speed. SMG sucks. The thing that puzzles me is that the new M5 only comes with SMG.

yea im leaning towards the 01 6 speed too... just cause of the miles on it
now i just gotta bring the price down. any good tactics for this? im buying from a private seller; going to see the car today in about 2 hrs. my friend is picking me up since my rsx is totaled (which is where i got the money from )

I would recommend taking it to Shadetree to get it checked out, especially for a car that has been in an accident. You never the know what the owner's not telling you. I think the inspection costs liek 50 bucks, but it's worth the money IMO.

i thought that the smg in the m5 was a seven speed

and the reason that it was smg was because the seven speed had the gears placed in the transmission base don strength, not a logical shifting pattern
