Are there any good places for a guy to get a quick, relatively cheap haircut around NCSU or downtown?

I've got to make an appointment for a new guy at work and he's not from around here.

Guys usually don't make appointments at barber shops, especially at "quick, relatively cheap" places.

If he doesn't need anything fancy,

I went to Man Mur one time, it was $14 which is about double what I'm used to paying.

yeah when i started going to ManMur it was only $10. Which is why i started going there instead of CostCutters.

Then at some point in spring 2005 they raised prices to $12. Then this spring they raised prices to $14. wtf

you might as well just cut your own hair if you're going to a barber

^^^ I've seen that one in cary, it's right near where I work so I've thought of dropping in and getting a cut...

on another note a lot of my co-workers get their cuts done at sport clips in cary

Well everybody here is recommending ManMur. Hell they don't even ask what number you want just shave it down till you're practically bald.

I wouldn't set foot in ManMurder unless I wanted to look like a marine.

Meh, Man-mur is o.k. if you like your hair short.

I usually go to Man-Mur; they do a decent enough job. But the price increase irks me. A co-worker recommended Esquire Haircutters, the shop near Golden Dragon on Hillsborough. Anyone have experience with them?

If he's in the Marines or lives in a campus dorm then Manmur/Super Cuts or any of the other aforementioned places will do just fine but you seem to imply that he has a job in which case he should probably try to look like a respectable adult, tell him to make an appointment at Sam & Bill's on Oberlin......its $35 but hell your hair is like an article of clothing that you have to wear 24 hours a day/7 days a week if you're gonna pick something to save some money on that ain't it

You might as well cut your penis off if you are going to a 'stylist'

I bought a $14 pair of clippers, which has given me two fine haricuts since, and the more I use it the more the price per haircut will fall to nearly nothing

If you are looking for a barber shop ManMur is just fine. If you are looking for a "stylist", go to a beauty salon. [/thread]
