he is being trained by none other than Bas Rutten who says

1) Kimbo is a hell of a natural fighter and athlete
2) He is eager to learn and absorbs and listens to all instruction, no questions asked
3) he is nothing like the public portrays him as

its good that he gets to train with Bas, and get away from that gang of street thugs he rolled with

that is awesome and wipes the bad taste of the tommy morrison debacle out of MMA fans mouths, i look forward to his fight!

Who's he fighting?

Sean Gannon slapped him around even though there was no ground fighting allowed. And Gannon kinda sucks.

I gotta imagine that a decent heavyweight would take him out pretty quickly.

A video of Slice signing for the fight can be seen on the Cage Fury official website. Slice talks about his upcoming debut in an interview with [1] touchgloves.com. The match is a three-round exhibition utilizing all professional rules of mixed martial arts combat.[3]"

id rather see fights going the distance, but he quick KOs tonight were technical and not "freak" shots

they were well set up and i can appreciate that as well as a good decision result

You think he will beat Ray Mercer? The guy is a former heavyweight champion, olympic gold medalist, and almost beat Lennox Lewis. Why the hell would Kimbo's managment pick someone this good for his first match?

He's a has-been.

Kimbo might win, but even if he does it'll get overturned when he tests positive for a myriad cocktail of PCP, cocaine metabolites, steroids, and pot.

^^I didn't realize he was that old now. Still, I would think Mercer would have to be the favorite if he is able to get himself in decent shape. As George Foreman will tell you, power is a last thing to leave a fighter. And I don't think Kimbo's speed (or lack there of) are going to cause any kind of problems for Mercer.

u missed one of the best fight nights to ever come out

some good results and the stout fisher bout was amazing

the show was good for mma,

EXCEPT for one stupid ass racial comment from a fighter and a stupid ass ref that bout got a guy killed, but some people like that stuff so that would make it a dream fight night for them

DO NOT FORGET the pay per view this saturday is at 3 PM!!! because it is gonna be live in Belfast, Ireland

if im not mistaken it will run continuously all day, i think thats what mike goldberg said at least but dont hold it towards me if u miss it

here is the text, but please visit the site so it gets hits

Bas Rutten with some kind words for Kimbo Slice in a message posted on the Sherdog forums:

OK guys, I have to say something here.

I am training Kimbo right now, and I have to say that he is one of the BEST fighters I have EVER trained. He really listens to you and does what you say, do you know how hard that it? If he’s dead tired, and I tell him five more rounds, he looks at me, but doesn’t say anything, he just does it.

I entroduced him to the Bas Rutten MMA workout, he was SO tired, he told me that he has never been as tired. Today I was teaching him again, he asked me in the beginning “Are we ging to do the Bas Rutten workout?” But he said it in a crazy way, so I asked him “Do you want to do it?”. He said “Please, yes!” I asked him why, because all my PROFESSIONAL fighters don’t want to do it. He said “Bas, I want to conquer this thing, I want to do it!”Man, he gets, Lots, and losts of respect!

All the shit that people write about him, I am telling you, and I hope you know I don’t lie, he’s a trooper! I wish that all my fighters would be like him. Even my wife loves the guy. He is SO respectful and uses NO bad language in front of kids (my two little daughters love him, and they don’t like anybody!), I am REALLY, blown away.

He really deserves this, I think this. Can a boxer be a MMA FIGHTER? We all know the answer, but can a street fighter be an MMA fighter? We all KNOW the answer to that!

I would wish that all my fighters were like him, like I said, I can put him through every workout I give him, he WILL do it, no questions asked.

I hope you guys meet Kimbo one day, you will be blown away. I just came back from an MMA event and I brought him there, just see how he is with the fans, it’s crazy!

You also know that I would NEVER train an asshole, so trust me, but he’s got me, Shawn Tompkins (who trained him longer than I have,) and Randy Kathami (boxing coach for my gym) respect. I REALLY love the guy.

El Guapo says:

Party one and Godspeed!!

I'll be damned if that won't add to the hype that dude already has in the MMA forum-world.

Seriously. If I wasn't such a pussy I would bet a ton on this fight. I know Kimbo is scary looking, but that often doesn't translate to being a good fighter. Plus Mercer has good power, and iron chin, and has a ton more fight experience than Kimbo. I know he's old, and I know Vegas is normally right, but this just seems strange to me that an internet sensation in his first organized fight would be favored over an olympic gold medalist that came very close to beating Lennox Lewis.

throw that all out the window

cuz this ieach fighters first mma bout

honestly ray mercer looked in terrible condition in his k-1 fights and did nothing other than punch, he has said that he wasnt gonna train much other than punches

thats probably why the odds are tipped, but in the case of two mma debut guys, im gonna choose the solid athlete over the older boxer everytime

but this is why we have the fights, and we shall see just dont forget to peep youtube afterwards cuz ull prolly find the fight there
