Here are the ATP rankings going into Wimbledon

1st Roger Federer 7515
2nd Rafael Nadal 5225
3rd Nicolay Davydenko 3040
4th Novak Djokovic 3010
5th Andy Roddick 2930
6th Fernando Gonzalez 2780
7th Tommy Robredo 2200
8th James Blake 2110
9th Andy Murray 2085
10th Tommy Haas 2020

Federer obviously the favorite... but I think Nadal is getting better and better and could beat him...

The only HONEST question that could come of this is if Nadal somehow wins and beats Federer, the king of grass, does he become the new number 1 ranking??? It's too close to call and I have no opinion yet, have to wait and see.

Tune in June 25th...

i know nothing about the atp ranking system but it would seem to me that federer would have to lose often and early to be replaced anytime soon...that is quite a big gap

if you win 2 of the last 3 majors, two times beating the worlds #1, I think that would justify a #1 ranking

if nadal plays federer in the final... i predict...

6-3 / 6-1 / 6-4 to federer

but i hope roddick gets a chance at it too.

i think i could get a few points off federer. honestly. like 4 per set. thats being generous

^^yeah iirc, the atp works on the previous 365 days matches, so a big chunk of federer's points would go away if he lost at wimbledon (especially early). BUT one thing heavily in federer's favor is that he plays a lot of matches and wins nearly all of them. so, while majors are worth a lot of points, if he happens to lose one it doesn't totally kill him. he's not one of those guys that only plays in the majors. he plays all the time.

^i'd rather see blake win it than roddick. too bad blake isn't consistent enough to put 7 good matches together (let alone a five good sets against a top 3 opponent in a major). and i don't really think roddick is good enough even on his best days to get past the likes of federer or nadal.

Federer would get a golden set off you with his left hand

you would not get ONE point off of him...the consistency of these guys is amazing, thats why they are pros... certain people in college can hit strong shots like them RARELY,,, maybe even a club tennis player but... the consistency will never come close to matching their talent, OR their serves (their - referring to the pros)

oh.... once upon a time... i was ranked in the top 20 in the southern usa district when i was 18...

i actually bet i could get a game off him on clay... lol

federer will win wimbledon.. he hasnt lost a match there what since like 2003? Nadal is good but he loses one of his big strengths on grass. His speed is somewhat negated because the ball is not slowed down as much. Federer will win and i say will probably drop 1 set in the second round. Thats my random guess.

Rat even if you were a current top 20 in the national usta rankings I do not think you could get a game off of federer on clay. There is such a huge jump between 18s and professional.

Roddick won the Queen's Cup. His usual prelude to not winning at The Championships.

Federer wins without dropping a set. Pete Sampras cries because no one remembers him anymore. Nadal loses in the third round to someone that plays tennis like a man instead of that clay court pushing nonsense.

you never know, sampras is testing the waters for a disappointing comeback.

also:

will andy murray make a splash this year and become the next henman, providing hope (but no wimbledon championship) for great britain for the next few years?

Sampras has said numerous times that he isn't going to play wimbledon again. I think he is supposed to be doing some exhibitions against Federer sometime this year, but I could be wrong about that.

it's kinda funny that the us has two top 10 men's tennis players, but you never hear about either because federer and nadal are so dominant.

It should be fun though!

The seeding

1. Roger FEDERER (SUI)
2. Rafael NADAL (ESP)
3. Andy RODDICK (USA)
4. Novak DJOKOVIC (SRB)
5. Fernando GONZALEZ (CHI)
6. Nikolay DAVYDENKO (RUS)
7. Tomas BERDYCH (CZE)
8. Andy MURRAY (GBR)
9. James BLAKE (USA)
10. Marcos BAGHDATIS (CYP)
11. Tommy ROBREDO (ESP)
12. Richard GASQUET (FRA)
13. Tommy HAAS (GER)
14. Mikhail YOUZHNY (RUS)
15. Ivan LJUBICIC (CRO)
16. Lleyton HEWITT (AUS)
17. David FERRER (ESP)
18. Mario ANCIC (CRO)
19. Jarkko NIEMINEN (FIN)
20. Jonas BJORKMAN (SWE)
21. Juan Carlos FERRERO (ESP)

29. Robin SODERLING (SWE)

I think Roddick should have had the number 2 seed over Nadal, but I guess that would be kinda hard to justify

i'm pulling for these guys (in this order):

1. James Blake
2. Any unseeded players (if they make it past the second round or so)
3. Andy Roddick
4. Andy Murray (gotta throw great britain a bone in their tourney)
5. Federer
6. Baghdatis (i don't know why, but i like this guy)

and for the women:
1. henin
2. venus williams
3. serena williams
4. sharapova

I think Federer is like -340 to win the tournament.... so betting only $3,400 would win you a cool thousand...

I'd say its hard to get in a rhythm when your opponent either hits a winner or has an error. And I believe in the 3rd set Serena only had like 9 errors which is pretty incredible for the kind of tennis she was playing. Yea she couldn't move as well as normally but she could get in position enough to hit them harder than Danielle could take.
