This thread is completely unofficial and features no asterisks.

The fixtures have been released, kickoff is August 11th. Some of the new kits for this year have already come out. If the power goes out wherever Chelsea is on the road, don't worry because they'll still be able to play.

It's not just that Chelsea kit that looks horrible. Liverpool has an ugly away kit (although it can't get worse than that yellow one last year) and a disgustingly bad black 3rd jersey. What I've seen of ManYoo's home next year is just plain red, even more so than this year, almost like a t-shirt. Spurs has like 5 different shirts next year, but they're all exactly the same, just different colors. The only new kits I've seen that I like are Fulham's, they're dropping those gay Airness ones and getting retro Nike ones, white home and red/black stripes away.

Reason number 3,234 that soccer will never take off in America:

They call their uniforms 'kits'.

all uniforms are called kits in england

so you fail

anyone seen Aston Villa's Nike kits yet? I've been trying to find em for a week or so now.

Tottenham needs to focus on getting their shit straight on the field before they release 600 shirts. I'll admit the Chocolate and Gold kits they had for the UEFA cup last season were beautiful, but they really do need to worry about other things.

^ But we're not in England, we're in the U.S. So we are allowed to call it a uniform, yes?

I like soccer, I'm a season ticket holder to the Railhawks, but the sheer arrogance of some soccer fans toward soccer culture is a big turnoff for me. This whole Eurosnob opinion that they turn their nose up in the air if you don't pronounce derby as "dar-bee", it's a kit and not a uniform, it's a pitch not a field, it just makes me shake my head. If a person want to spell checkered like "chequered" or spell recognize like "recognise", or call a uniform a "kit", you're living in the wrong country. (Not saying this to you per se, it's just a general statement.)

The purpose of language is to communicate, and no one here knows what a kit is unless you're talking about a model airplane, so what's the point of using the word? When in England, you would say "NC State has a fine gridiron kit this year", so in America you would say "Chelsea has a nice soccer uniform this year."

Actually, I would imagine people in England discussing American football would say uniform.

You tend to use the language that is associated with the league or sport. I don't see what the issue is here.

^ But if you have to explain for five minutes what "kit" means when you could've just as easily used the word "uniform", why not just use "uniform"?

For people posting in an English Premier League 07-08 thread, using "kit" shouldn't be an issue because I'm assuming most people here are soccer fans and can understand terms commonly associated with the sport. Nobody's saying you can't use the word uniform anyways, I have just always associated soccer jerseys/shorts/socks with the word "kit."

who knows what will happen...they can't possibly field all those players right???

deco, dinho, eto'o, henry, giuly, iniesta, xavi, edmilson, gudjohnsen, motta, maxi lopez, messi

dinho and eto'o have both been linked with milan, and giuly linked with newcastle, gudjohnsen is probably out...that is a murderers row of attackers though

Giuly will never be a starter at Barca, nor will Gudjohnson

and Deco, as gifted as he is, is Rikjaard's center mid, and not really considered an attacking player

Honestly, I think Eto'o is gone, and has been gone for months. I would not be surprised to see him at Milan, nor would I be surprised to see Kaka on a plane to Madrid.

what is everybody's thoughts on recent transfers?

Torres to Liverpool? eh, I don't know what to think about it... he's okay, but I think they overpaid. He reminds me too much of Morientes who I didn't particularly like.

And the recent rumors of Tevez to ManYoo for 20 mil, incredible if true... adding Hargreaves/Tevez/Nani/Anderson and getting Ben Foster back from loan to a team that dominated the league, wow.

Manchester Utd is known for purchasing alot of flops. Biggest example is Veron.
Why change a winning formation? Only thing i would like to see is carrick being replaced by tevez. Being a Leeds utd fan though, i wanna see ALAN SMITH BACK IN THE TEAM!!
