My Wrangler recently got broken into and I am putting a claim in with insurance. When I get a quote for the replacement of the (soft) top, I will probably get a good amount of money for a top. I have been looking at both hard and soft tops online and there is a large difference in cost. I also see quite a difference when it comes to just soft tops. Why is there such a difference in price for one soft top to another? What should I look for? Also, if anyone can show me some good deals on tops, I would appreciate it.

If'n I had one, I'd probably just ball up the soft top and throw it in the garbage. First and best mod.

best advise: find a good used replacement on craigslist, at least 1 per week show up. If you never put the top down, get a different vehicle. I've had a wrangler for about 3 months now and the top has only been up on 2 occasions.

the difference in price comes a difference in quality. the fit, stitching, windows, etc.

tawaitt has the right idea, factory tops aren't hard to find in lightly used condition for alot cheaper than new.

hard tops are more exspensive and a pain to take on/off all the time. they're nice for winter, but imo it's not enough of a difference to spend the money on one. especially with the crazy weather we have around here, you might put the top on then we get a week of top down weather in december...

pick up a quadratec magazine if you are looking for different brands/styles and you want it new.

But if your looking used, hit up craigslist or a bargain trader.

Some people are (nuts) hard core, some aren't. Enjoy your new top when you find it.....pussy.

edit: he's also 6'7", 270 pounds, ex marine, and busted my lip with a Hitler scar to prove it. hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
