What's up? Coming to State in the fall as a transfer student. Just wondering if any of you guys had some suggestions on where to apply for a part time job. Anywhere other than fast food/restraunt work would be great. 6/24/2007 12:26:16 AM |

NCSU Bookstore.
Sign the deal to work 15 hours a week minimum. Get textbooks free on loan for a semester (excluding shit you have to write in or workbooks or something). Get paid about $7/8 per hour. The textbook benefit is what makes that worth it.
It's also right on campus, so you don't lose any time between class and work. If you can cram five minutes between going from class to work, you'll be fine. And combining all the time/transportation/textbook savings generally makes working at the bookstore one of the best deals on campus as far as jobs go. You don't have to give a fuck and you'll probably be able to keep your job for a while, or you can give a fuck and, in the right department, will be given compensation accordingly (a raise). Most departments don't give raises though... Still, they work around your school schedule entirely, and you will never have to work at night. 6/24/2007 1:57:13 AM |

yes there are websites for looking for jobs but most of your websites like monster are pretty useless if you're just looking for a normal part time job like casheir, sales associate, or something along those lines.
the bookstore, hmmm that was one I didn't actually think of. Thanks, that just moved to the top of the list.

I worked for the school's newspaper, Technician, in the advertising dept. It was a really laid back job and on-campus. I'm not sure if they're hiring right now, but you can contact them. Here's their info:

you can also check out their classifieds page for PT jobs. a lot of those are geared toward college students. good luck! 6/24/2007 8:13:32 AM |

I worked in the bookstacks for a couple years when I first came to state, the pay isnt anything special, but they dont take taxes out of your paychecks and its some easy mindless labor on campus 6/24/2007 12:31:07 PM |

On campus jobs are nice (or ones near campus) saves a lot of time. I can't remember how I heard that a bioinformatics professor was looking for a CSC major to do some programming and I got like $12 an hour. Not bad (for part time work I could do from home that related to my major).
