Yeah, the ticket doesn't work. The President has to be the Alpha figure in the combo and the VP has to be low key, non-controversial, and non-threatening.

Bloomberg is none of these.

I don't even know why his name comes up, he has no shot at winning.

I'm not seeing Gore running as an independent.

I think we could have Bloomberg as a VP

I mean for gods sake, we elected Cheney and he is arguably the most hated man in contemporary American politics.

VP to who? Not Gore. Not the Republicans. Hillary? No. Edwards? No. Richardson? Maybe. Obama? Maybe.

Bloomberg would never agree to be a VP.

When I read JCASH's statement, I had the same thought, but his present day Police State mentality wasn't an issue or even known back then. He fit the mold of a low key say nothing nobody (at least, that is how I remember it).

it gives three possible choices for president

Guiliani = liberal(ish) New Yorker
Clinton = liberal New Yorker
Bloomberg = liberal New Yorker.

Again, I ask, what does Bloomberg bring to the race that isn't already there? Nothing, not a damn thing. His popularity is based on the same thing that gave Powell popularity when he was pondering it a few years back and that gives Thompson popularity now . . . he is an alternative that people project their personal wishes upon because he is a political blank slate to 90% of the country. Given the current political trend against globalization, I can't imagine the electorate voting for a man who has profited so heavily from it. If Hillary wins the election, she will be the first northeast Democrat to win since JFK and she will have done it largely on the coat tails of her husband.

Exactly. He was Secretary of Defense during a very popular war (Desert Storm) had solid conservative credentials, and laid low. Hell, as Vice President now he lays pretty low.

I challenge anyone (and no one has done it yet) to tell me what exactly Bloomberg brings to the table other than the fact that he doesn't have an (R) or (D) after his name.
