Just saw this movie on T.V.

I had never seen it before, but I recalled it was critically acclaimed at the time of its original release.

What a piece of shit movie. Fucking horrible, I'd put it on par with Mark Wahlberg's magnum opus, "Rock Star" in terms of rock based cinema.

The only good part was when the guitarist was on acid on top of a house and proclaimed, "I am a golden God." That was stolen however, from Robert Plant.

The acting was pedestrian, and the writing was so fucking trite.

I liked the movie. Though, once I saw the extended directors cut on DVD and those scenes were cut out for good reasons.

haha, it was a bad movie. The film was bad, I think you all are just hung up on the music from the film. I didn't say the soundtrack was bad, yes we all love tiny dancer, and all the cute little Peter Frampton, LZ, Pink Floyd references, but the movie itself was garbage. StillFuschia the self appointed know-it-all snob would be lying to herself if she thought the film had good character development, for example, what do we know about Russel's girlfriend and their relationship? That's kind of important.

stolen? do you even know what the movie is about and how it was written? It's basically made up of experiences Cameron Crowe had as a writer for Rolling Stone.

What do I like about Almost Famous (and more specifically, the long version, Untitled)?

Hmm, let's see.

I like it when William says "Ask me again," to Penny when they're talking about Morocco.

Almost inexplicably, I like every single frame with Jimmy Fallon. It was his first movie, and he's excellent.

I like the entire scene with Kyle Gass.

I like Zooey Deschanel's hair.

I like the timing with which Frances McDormand points to Paul Simon's eyes.

I like the Zeppelin kid.

When William tells Lester Bangs that he's listening to Stillwater, the way PSH says "STILLWATER?! The kid's on drugs," almost makes me cry.

Russell's little diatribe about Marvin Gaye...I like it.

Cameron Crowe has written some damn good scripts. He's also written some mediocre scripts. The admittedly-lame-but-wise adage in creative writing is "Write what you know." If there's anything Cameron Crowe knows, it's being a teenaged writer for Rolling Stone and Creem.
