looking for something reasonable. something that maybe one person toss in the water.
mainly going to use it to boat around in the sound and go fishing.
any opinions/ideas/debates are welcome.
ive been on the search for a long time for one of these suckers. Carolina Beach has a few but they look like rust buckets. is that what they are suppose to look like? 7/2/2007 2:58:26 PM |

something like that.
doesnt have to be big. the sound is No Wake zone so im not really worried about it being too small for tipping over.

You'll want something bigger than that for the sound. You'll tip over. Maybe something with Chevy poWR. 7/2/2007 4:24:10 PM |

I concur on the 14 foot duracraft with a 8 or 10 hp motor. It would suffice if you stuck to calm waters.
I have a 21 foot Trophy and my brother has a 22 foot skiff. The damn skiff will beat the butter out of a biscuit in a moderate (1-2 foot) chop in the sound. Any type of boat you could carry I would stick to the back creeks and flats on. 7/3/2007 11:44:13 AM |

these waters are real calm. except when idiots cruise too fast in the sound. they have posted no wake zones. i want it for some simple fishing.
14 foot is up in the air. i wanna check some out. hell if i can get something a bit bigger then two people can carry it, thats not a prob. my parents already have a boat. its a crownline, dont know the specs, its too bulky to just creep and throw in and out of the water. 7/3/2007 12:08:22 PM |

i have a 10footer you can have for free. i've already cleaned it up with aluminum brightener. all you'll have to do to it is either re-rivet it or weld the existing rivets. not sure which ones leak but some do. i was just going to do all of them but i know i ain't never gonna mess with that damn thing. 7/3/2007 8:59:53 PM |

i need to go see some in person so i know how long/wide they are.
i think my choices are gonna be a 9 footer, 14 footer, and if there is something in between...
also, a lot of the boats have 9.9HP motors. im thinking of maybe something a bit bigger. 15HP?? 20something?? 7/6/2007 9:20:23 AM |

well its gonna stay at the beach. i dont even want a trailer. ill toss in in the back of a truck and take it to the beach. and chain it up under the deck.
or just chain it up to the dock. 7/6/2007 9:36:22 AM |

yeah. i was told 25HP.
those trolly motors... they got some kick? will they move 2 niggas in a 14footer? ive seen them on bigger boats, so im sure they will. but i guess they come in different HPs or whatever.
i may just steal some ole rednecks boat from the beach. 7/6/2007 9:39:55 AM |

i totally just skipped over all that. i just saw pics.
well if you can treat it like a car you can get a dup. title. and then register it. 8/23/2007 11:20:21 AM |

boat/trailer titles aren't the pain in the ass car titles are. just get a bill of sale for the boat, and then title/register the trailer as a homebuilt if you're worried about it. a lot of people never do though, for a trailer that small you'll be pretty unlucky to ever get harassed about it. 8/23/2007 1:23:25 PM |

the whole 10hp motor thing has to do with registering and having lights on the boat if i remember correctly, anything less than 10 you dont need either. 8/24/2007 9:19:54 AM |
