check out this post on the SectionSix blog:

http://sectionsix.blogspot.com/2007/06/bc-fans-are-slightly-obsessed.html

it talks about the new football commit Mike Glennon and has links that give clear evidence that Boston College has the most bitter and sad fans in the ACC.

If you dissagree with my understanding of Boston College fan's, then get your sound-off on.

decided to click on a few of the links to see exactly what the BC fans said.

i just find it hilarious that they talk shit about us when nobody has posted on their football forums in almost a week. i know there is nothing really going on right now.......but i am starting to understand what TOB meant when he said NC State fans are much more passionate and involved with the team. it seems like their fanbase just doesn't give a shit about football.

i couldnt agree more...

i have some friends that go to BC, and everytime we talk football they bad mouth Tom O'Brien...

now let's see...the man took BOSTON COLLEGE, (not a historically good program), and took them to a record # of bowl wins consecutively. and thats WITHOUT recruiting, because we all know that no highly touted football players commit to a place where they have to deal with ice storms, blizzards, and traveling 7 hours at a minimum to play conference games.

Not to mention, BC has high academic standards. I think their success is nothing but validation of Tom O Brien's coaching ability.

With that said, I can't wait to be there in Boston for the game so we can hopefully stop their whining. They have this game circled, dotted, and star'd on their schedule....im sure we do too.

NC State fans are obsessed, but BC fans are just morons. State fans are just over eager to have their teams succeed and to get some respect. BC had all the respect in the world and they wouldn't show up to a damn football game to support their team...then they bitched about 9 win seasons and drove their coach to a school that gives a fuck.

I'm obsessed with State doing well, b/c I want to stop hearing ESPN suck off Duke and North Carolina. I'd prefer for Duke to fall off the map and State vs. UNC become the top basketball rivalry in the state and nationally like it was for so long. TOB and Bitch Davis will likely elevate the two football programs, and the hate that was there will now have a national audience in years to come. ESPN Classic had their Who's Number 1? Greatest Rivalries on tonight. Fucking three spots were taken up in some form by Lakers vs. Celtics. First one was Russell vs. Chamberlain, second was Lakers vs. Celtics, and the third was Bird vs. Magic. I was like WTF ESPN, just lump the three into the old tattered umbrella that is Lakers vs. Celtics. They also had some other crappy choices. One was Martina Navratilova vs. some other lady. And it was in like the top 5. Seriously, who the hell cares about women's tennis, and who even knows about this crappy rivalry. I had never even heard of the other lady. They put two horses in the top 20. And Florida State vs. Miami wasn't on there. Then they put Louisville vs. Kentucky basketball in there at like 19 or 18. Now I'm not saying that Louisville vs. Kentucky in basketball isn't a great rivalry, b/c it is, but it doesn't have the history or the magnitude that State/Carolina has. First off get this, these two teams went 24 years where they didn't play each other. From 1959 to an NCAA tournament game in 1983, and only played 3 times from 1922 to 1983. Those 3 games were in 1948, 1951, and 1959. State and Carolina have played each other in basketball pretty much since the two schools fielded basketball squads. They have also been in the same conference for pretty much their entire athletic existence. Playing in the same conference makes the games that much more important. Just look at this year when the two ended up playing each other for a third time in the ACC Tournament Final.

I hope Lowe brings us the ACC Championship within the next two years, a Final Four appearance within 5 years, a national championship within 10 years, and a winning record or at least .500 record vs. UNC and Duke, and a winning record vs. Wake. So far he's gotten a few of those things done. .500 record vs. Duke and a winning record vs. Wake. With the way Lowe and company are recruiting and coaching, I think those things are quite possible.

I live right next to BC and I concur with this statement. My buddy's sister went there and he considers himself a BC fan... but only when they're doing well (my assessment). These are exactly my arguments I made against him and BC and his badmouthing of O'Brien. BC = UNC of Boston. These "BC Fans" only care about their team when they're doing well.

we know it...they know it...everyone in the ACC and the Big East knows it

and there's nothing anyone can do about it

it really has to suck to be BC the past few years

One thing I love: BC’s hate for TOB(and NC STATE for that matter) can only be contrasted by their depressing optimism for their coach Jeff Jagodzinski.

Another thing I love: BC’s inability to recognize the fact that, although TOB has left to for the greener grass in Carter-Finley, almost all future BC success in this coming football season is due in part to the structuring and recruitment class that TOB brought in there.

for reals. i can fully understand running a coach off b/c he's not taking you to the next level (you know, since i've taken part in that and all)... but do they really think that this guy will do a better job? that's a long shot at best.

good as in piss off as many people as possible while also clean enough to let me take it in the game?

as many signs support TOB as possible would probably get on their nerves the most. especially if we do end up winning that game.

I love how they all think TOB recruited so great there that they should have won so many more games. Their recruiting is slightly better than Wake's over the past few years. They have had some good players, but they have also made a living coaching O and D line and landing some good recruits at those positions. Overall, they are only slightly better than Wake, much worse than State's recruiting, yet their results have been much better.

Quote :

Well let me qualify this - yes, it will attract more recruits: those with grades which every other ACC school find unacceptable.

What makes them so convince that Jags is going to be a good coach. They have alread lost on assitant because of "philisophical differences" with the head coach. The love to think Logan is going to be some kind of saviour to the offense. The all seem to ignore the fact that Logan did everything at EZU with players who COULD NOT QUAILIFY to play in the ACC.

That BC board is like a how-to guide: "Being a Douchebag for Dummies" It's laughable but equally frustrating to read.

I just hope we don't make asses out of ourselves like the BC fans are when it comes time for Amato to come back to Raleigh in 2008. I dread the signs that our fans are going to write...

The difference is that we don't go talking trash about ASU's academics. Also most State fans that wanted Herb gone were still appreciative of him bringing us out of the coma that our program was in and got us back to being a consistent NCAA tournament team.

Here's the simple thing to do, make a sign that says something positive like Go Pack or some ESPN2HD acronym. Leave one side blank. Take in a marker or two in your pocket. If we are winning in the 4th quarter, write on the blank side something that tells them how stupid they were to let him go. Maybe run down his stats like

TOB:
-BC's most winningest coach.
-BC school-record for seven consecutive bowls, winning 6 in a row.
-2005 team was the first BC team since 1984 to be ranked in the top 25 in at least one of the two major polls from start to finish, and finished 17th in the coaches poll, 18th in the AP poll, 12th in the Sagarin rankings, all against the 22nd-most-difficult schedule in the country in 2005 (only Virginia Tech (5th) finished higher in the Sagarin rankings among ACC teams).
-The 2005 team became the 11th in BC history to win nine or more games in a season; three of those seasons have come under Tom O'Brien. The 2005 senior class won 35 games, the most in the modern era of BC football history. The 35 wins also ties for the best four-year mark in school history (1939-42). The Eagles strung together the most successful five, six and seven-year periods in school history.
-The 2005 Eagles led the ACC in total offense, averaging 387.8 yards per game, and also led the league in rushing defense (90.8 ypg)
-In 2005, Boston College was ranked number one in the country by USA Today when the paper re-ordered the final 2005 football Top 25 by APR (Academic Progress Rate) score to measure a combination of athletic and academic success. BC was only one of six Division I-A institutions with a football graduation rate of 90% or better, along with Duke, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Southern Methodist University and the University of Southern Mississippi.

Hmm...wins football games, graduates players, WTF were you thinking BC?

They are also now predicting a BCS berth for their team this year. I lol'ed at that one. So your coach just left b/c he didn't think he could do any better, why would your team suddenly get that much better after he leaves?

I doubt he does, either.

Chuck definitely left some talent, though. Our O-line should be much improved this year, we have an incredibly talented trio of tailbacks, we've got some solid athletic WRs...just need some production from a QB.

Defense should be solid--we're a little shaky on LBs, but overall the defense seemed to be adjusting really well to the zone coverages during the Red & White game.

We should have a shot at winning that game. Of course, BC's going to have the advantage, both with returning starters and knowing what TOB's offenses like to do.
