Does anyone actually support the ridiculous banning of liquids from airplanes? The salisburyboy part of me feels like this is almost some twisted plot by the water/lotion industry to force passengers to buy new products at their destinations.

arent you allowed to take liquids on that you've bought within the security checkpoint so long as the seal isnt broken?

yes you can. you can also take liquid on board if it's in a container 3.2 oz. or less.

I would just make a shiv out of a sharpened piece of plexiglass and put a duct tape handle on it if I wanted to carry out some 9/11 shit.

Or I would hijack a school bus and get in a police pursuit on the freeway and then as soon as the news choppers showed up I would start chucking kids out of the back door. That would traumatize the nation and drive up gas prices because no parent would ever put their kid on a school bus again until they started putting an armed cop on every one of them.

If people want to pull some terrorism they'll find a way.

don't you recall last fall when some retarded terrorist wannabe's from the UK tried to make some bombs from liquid?
what has happened since then is a pretty straight forward sequence of reactionary and good-public-relations-inducing events.
I'm sure it's quite obvious to anyone in the security sector, and i'm sure to OHS and TSA officials, that the ban on liquids is doing us no good right now for a number of reasons, including: 1) they picked one arbitrary potential explosive-making component to ban, knowingly leaving dozens of other materials un-banned and unscreenable; 2) they picked arbitrary limits, willfully ignoring the possibility of multiple passengers to recombine liquids into substantial amounts; 3) they know that liquid and gel catalysts can still be obtained inside terminals and even on planes (ever dropped sodium metal [not screened] into water [obtainable inside the plane]?); 4) i could go on.....

the only reason the ban is still in place is for public relations, and because the TSA has to appear that they are "taking the threats seriously". To satisfy the CNN and Fox news-watching-sheep who, if liquids were allowed again like they always have been in the past, would just start shouting "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN? THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!"

I find these sort of arcane rules hilarious, especially when they fail these sort of tests.

As a tribute to the TSA's awesome security, I was coming back from San Jose the other week and as I got up to the carry on check I was promptly informed that my bottle of Coke could not go through with me. NBD, I chugged it and went on. Sitting at my gate, waiting for the flight I realized I had left my 5" switchblade knife in the top pocket of my bag, and it had gone completely unnoticed. They even accosted the woman in front of me at the checkpoint and gave her a 5 minute speech about bagging her loose bottles of stuff in her carry-on, but just handed me my bag and told me to have a nice flight...

Needless to say, the knife traveled all the way back to RDU with me, but it sure shows that they've got their priorities in order, doesn't it?

Makes you feel real safe?
