we have a 68 280sl, 73 is a different body style, not very pretty if I remember correctly. For ours parts are extremely expensive, but available. the 113 chassis cars (up to 71 or 72) have had strong market value since new, I don't know about the later 70's version. 7/15/2007 1:07:38 PM |

I don't even have to look at it to tell you it's a worn out german piece of shit that you don't want. As an alternate suggestion, I've got a hole in my backyard that you're welcome to throw money into. 7/16/2007 2:04:12 PM |

I know enough to stay the hell away from it.
The only old German car I want to have anything to do with is Volkswagen. Ok, maybe a BMW 2002, but that is it. 7/16/2007 2:37:19 PM |

That says a lot! But not that you know a lot about SL's! Which doesnt make them cars to avoid, assuming you can either afford to have a great indy shop maintain/repair them or that you are a very keen DIY'er.7/16/2007 8:21:14 PM |

well the auction was hilarious
completely rusted through trunk and an electrical system that was completely shot because the battery shorted out through the hood...i couldnt check the trunk because it was locked the first time
unknown milage because the odometer had been replaced in germany
some idiots bought it for $6500 7/23/2007 10:02:39 PM |
