http://www.statefansnation.com/index.php/archives/2007/07/23/anthony-hill-out-with-knee-injury/

Statefansnation is reporting an ACL injury. Does anyone have credible information on this, as far as if he is injured and if so, the extent of it?

Dude is inconsistent sometimes, but a beast when he is on his game. If true, I guess we'll have to see how legit Stone is at TE sooner rather than later.

SHIT.

Hill was one of the guys I was looking forward to watching the most. Although we were going to see stone anyway, 2 TE sets. This is a major loss if true.

That sucks for like the only preseason All-ACC player we have...

Did Rashad Phillips ever get back over that car accident??

He should be a what redshirt-freshman this year?

I do not support or provide knowledge of the fact that our players would actually lose games on purpose.

Hill is most valuable for his run blocking, something very important for TEs in Dana Bible's offense. Stone can hopefully make some good plays as a receiving TE, but we could really use Hill as an extra lineman much of the time. Hill also made some spectacular plays receiving at times, he just needs to work on his focus and intensity, which I believe is coachable.

i seriously doubt our players, especially those with NFL potential, would take a dive. I'll assume thats a troll.

Amato was let go 48 hours before the ECU game, I think the players really just didn't care, no bowl game, non ACC game, who cares (to them)?

^^ ah much thanks.

I cant help but remember TOB's history at BC with injuries though. Didnt that one guy make it out like TOB made him play his senior season even though he was injured because the "team needed him". Much could be said about Ant Hill this year, especially with the new offense we will be running. I hope that he really isnt hurt, but I can't help but wonder what isnt being said and why the rumors started in the first place....

well, at least we will have him for our senior backs and QBs with experience next year since he will redshirt im sure

Stone may be more of a Dallas Clark as compared to an Antonio Gates in these schemes.

and this may not be too bad, you know Stone will work his ass off to get credit and make it in the NFL at least as something, and not to mention this always gives us the trick play threat with him in the game...so that may be a plus side to note on this TRAGEDY

I'm really more worried about the rest of our tight ends being able to block...

we're going to need a lot of run support to take the pressure off our inexperienced QBs.

Whatever happened to Octavius Darby?? Dude was supposed to be nasty coming out of high school (teammate of Dunlap).

Didn't he get suspended or something? Now would be a great time to reinstate him.

Dammit, good luck on the rehab Ant. Also unfortunate is this is the first year the TE position has appeared to be thin coming into the season. Hopefully one or two guys will step up and surprise us, b/c TE will be a key position for us this year. Hopefully Brown and Baker can push these guys to get better every practice.

What about bulking up one of our young WRs and moving them to TE?

Darrell Davis, Jarvis Williams, and Donald Bowens are all close to 6'4 and 210 lbs. I say take the best blocker of the bunch and move them inside.

I don't think you want those guys moving inside there. Williams seems like he could be a deep threat and looks like he has great hands. Bowens could be that guy to make plays over the middle, but none of them really look like they could get up to 235, which is a minimum weight to play TE IMO.

In all seriousness, you don't even want to move one of the tailbacks to fullback/TE because they will just get beaten up...and Andre and Toney are much bulkier than those wideouts.

He played with two broken hands last year, so I don't see the big deal with an injured knee.

^Yeah WTF we don't need the best TE in the ACC.

He was our leading receiver over Dunlap, Barrett, and Blackman.

With as many drops as he had last year, he's still by far our best TE and he still led the team in receptions I think...or damn close to it. I'm more worried about Andre and Toney getting beaten up than catching passes. Hate him for the drops, but he was dominant as a blocker...no way in hell stone can compete in that respect.
