GT 10-2 after losing Calvin? Not sure about that one, but then again, they also lose Reggie Ball.
I don't see ECU losing to us & UNC either. 7/23/2007 2:30:06 PM |

the atlantic does suck ass. FSU isnt the FSU of old...Clemson blows chunks every year when they're supposed to be good. Maryland hasnt been shit since the Fridge has gotten his recruits. Us..........nuff said. Wake Forest....when wake forest wins our division, fuck 7/23/2007 2:30:11 PM |

The Atlantic division is just more balanced. We don't have UNC and Duke giving easy wins to the rest of the division. 7/23/2007 2:32:16 PM |

I have been reading a lot about GT since I am down here in Atlanta now, and they sound like a pretty solid team, losing Ball definitely helps haha 7/23/2007 2:36:09 PM |

I think 5-7 is pretty accurate for us. We'll probably split the ECU/UNC games and upset a Miami, FSU, or BC 7/23/2007 2:56:42 PM |

the ACC got what they wanted out of the deal... the level of competition hasn't gone down, and there's a Championship game (more money) now...
seriously, get over the expansion, it's been two years now at full 12 and three years of expansion...
wait... right... most state fans have a hard time getting over anything...

i agree 100% i think they might have a chance at a BCS bowl game with all the players they are returning plus factor in that last year they couldnt catch a break means, to me...that FSU will be a hungry team.
have to remember how nasty the defense was at FSU w/ Amato there and since he is back with the serious upgrades to the Asst. coaches and Jimbo Fisher...look out
pretty sure we dont beat FSU this year 7/23/2007 3:23:19 PM |

- Jeff Bowden + Jimbo fisher = FSU back at the top, unfortunately
but i still think VT will win the ACC, and if not for an early season loss at LSU would be in the nat'l title hunt. 7/23/2007 3:48:26 PM |

That is true but there is no reason a Miami team should need a last second turnover to beat Duke no matter how many players were suspended... there is no reason VT should get beat by a completely inferior Georgia team in the Peach Bowl.. BCU has been the most consistent new team in both sports and they were a non-factor when it comes to championships in the Old BE...
VT, Miami and FSU have been a huge disappointment to this point on the national stage since the relalignment. Miami obviously being the biggest.
Lets be honest. While Wake Forest was a nice story in a normal year for the ACC they wouldn't have been Top 3 in the league even. Maybe even Top 6. They had to pull shit from their asses late against the two weakest teams in what was perceived, at least going in to the season, as the weakest conference.
^ LSU is going to roll them... frankly I expect VT to be a 3-4 loss team this year looking at their schedule.

I have all the admiration in the world for the way he runs the program. Still, I really don't think they were the best team, or even close to it, in a normal year. No disrespect to them, it's just hard for a school like there to match talent with the normal powerhouses.
They had a great gameplan against UL too in the Orange Bowl and hung with them.. I was surprised and happy for Grobe that they did b/c I thought that was going to be a drubbing. 7/23/2007 4:13:17 PM |

I'm sorry, I just don't see GT going 10-2; last year CJ was just as much an intimidation factor as anything else. Even though BC has a questionable 3 gimme games, I still don't forsee them going 8-4, 7-5 sounds better to me because they will lose to FSU. And why is Clemson going to lose to Maryland?
I just don't think that these Picks are accurate...however, I think that they are fairly close. I still think that we will be 7-5 or 6-6.
Atlantic: FSU (9-3), Clemson (8-4), UMd (7-5 or 6-6), BC (7-5 or 6-6), NCSU (7-5 or 6-6), WFU (6-6 or 5-7)
Coastal: VT(10-2), GT (9-3), Miami (9-3), UVA (6-6), UNC (4-4 or 3-9), Duke (0-12)
There's my predictions in writing...take them as they are...predictions from an average joe. 7/23/2007 5:08:11 PM |

Blue Ribbon Reports on ESPN.com just came out for IN members, pretty lengthy but still a good a read.
I found this to be interesting:
Quote : | "He clearly knows what is important to NC State fans. O'Brien liked telling about how at the spring sports banquet, athletics director Lee Fowler had all the student-athletes who played on teams that beat North Carolina stand up and be recognized. The football players sat on their hands the whole time.
As he made the rounds to the spring booster meetings, O'Brien promised two things -- that his team wouldn't be sitting down at the all-sports banquet next year and that it wouldn't finish last in the ACC's Atlantic Division" |

They said it would BC from now on cus they want to feel somewhat important. I lived right down the street from BC and I got used to how BC fans worked. They're just like UNC fans. I highly doubt that this would be O'Briens "FSU" game. I can see why Chuck would make FSU important... they are a nationally recognizable team. BC doesn't have that prestige and as much as BC wants us to care about them, it seems unlikely BC will be the game that he will make SURE to win. If he has any cognizance he'll knows a big portion of his job hinges on how we fare against UNC over the years (and obviously winning the big ones and having winning records etc...)7/26/2007 12:25:08 PM |
