I'm pretty sure it was isuzu anyway, I saw it on my way out the door this morning. They were putting down a 100k mile warranty saying "who really needs a warranty that long - nobody puts that many miles on their car anyway". What turds.

well, it's the truth. it's a rare thing for someone to buy a new car and drive it 100k miles.

on the flip side, i did see a commercial tonight for jeep saying they're starting a liftetime powertrain warranty.

Even if it may be the truth it's crazy for them to belittle someone's warranty for being more extensive.

Now as far as jeep offering a lifetime powertrain warranty... they're probably A: increasing prices to go along with it and B: they probably are going to require strict documentation of proper maintenance and are going to be super picky about what gets warrantied.

*edit* in their defense, everything but transmissions on jeeps has been proven to be pretty stout.

Is it really odd to buy a car and put 100k miles on it?

Seems like the average to me

^not any more. i bet less than 75% of people do it.

a lot of people don't like extra things they don't need, and assume they're paying for it. i don't see it being a bad marketing idea at all. at least they're trying something new/different.

they make trucks. they haven't made any cars in 15 years. they don't make much of anything now that isn't a rebadged gm. they recently bought themselves back from gm though, and are supposedly in the process of coming out with a whole new all isuzu product line. selling out to gm was a bad move, and pretty much ran them into the ground.

^ Regardless, gone are the days of the simple utilitarian rigs like the early Troopers.

Isuzu made stuff for Honda, they're good vehicles.

we had a turbo diesel trooper one time. it was a great vehicle but was no match for the chevrolet truck that pulled out in front of it.

isuzu makes nothing for the american market except for some medium duty work trucks and cab forwards, and they have GM engines in them (gassers). I always liked the unique isuzu line. vehicross FTW. I hope they come back strong.
