A documentary following a middle school science teacher as he tries to break a hot sauce mogul's world record score in Donkey Kong.

It's due out August 17th, and looks like it could be a pretty interesting film for any fans of classic arcade games.

G4 did an episode on Billy once. They were talking about his perfect Pac-Man score, and he said that he was working on a game achievement that would blow the minds of the video gaming world, but wouldn't say what it was.

By the way, I beat Contra without dying a single time. I think they should make a movie about that.

I think calling him a "Hot Sauce Mogul" is a bit of a stretch. I saw him on some show about gamers a while back and they were talking about his hot sauce, so they go to the store where he shows it off and he has to take it out from behind other stuff that's been put in front of it, and he starts reorganizing the shelf to put is sauce on the front. It was fairly comical. The other highlight was his wife talking about their first date. He started playing pacman and she went to the bathroom and she said he was on the same quarter. He got all huffy and corrected her that it was the same life...with charm like that its amazing their was a second date.

Not only does Billy Mitchell come out looking like a super douche, but the Twin Galaxies guys don't come across much better. They seemed to have a vested interest in keeping Mitchell in the lead. (esp. that one dude who I am convinced had a crush on Mitchell.) I guess that community, especially when it comes to the classic coin-ops, is pretty tight and they will strive to keep one of their own at the top of the list.

I went to see the movie yesterday and loved it. I loved the part where his lawyer friend passive aggressively called him out at the restaurant table near the end. My girlfriend did not believe that it was actually a real documentary after we walked out (she didn't know anything about the movie beforehand). She thought it had to be a blair witch project sort of thing because the characters are just too absurd to be real.

not only was it one of the best documentaries i've seen in a while, it's one of the better movies i've seen

It's out on DVD as of February 5th.

I watched it Saturday night and absolutely loved it. I guess I better take my copy back to blockbuster, though. I've almost had it for 2 weeks before I got around to it, lol.

The movie could have been better.

For example, would it have been so hard to make the Steve's win a bit more exciting? I mean shit. The director has a line graph straight out of MS Power Point. How exciting is that? I would have liked to have seen a game montage set to "You're the Best" or maybe "Faith of the Heart" as the score gradually tick upwards until they break past Billy's.

Instead the director inserts the music in the awkwardest places. Ug.

But, the story was strong enough to cary it. I was literally jumping up and down with rage after Billy snubs Steve near the end of the film.
