Pics to come, but I'll tell the story I've heard so many damn times,
Matt's dad had a 67 beetle for his first car, traded it for a bike, his mom bought it back from some dude a few years ago for christmas, he bought 2 parts bugs to restore it, we got one of the others and are doing a full restoration on it. 7/31/2007 1:27:17 PM |

has it been "ragged" out? 7/31/2007 2:57:36 PM |

if by ragged out you mean a knocking ass motor, then yes. we have a replacement though. 7/31/2007 3:27:07 PM |

Lots of rust to take care of though. That's the only thing. 7/31/2007 3:36:35 PM |

its not a restoration, its a patch job. 7/31/2007 3:38:50 PM |

a patch job is road signs and rtv, stripping the body bare and welding in patch panels is a restoration 7/31/2007 3:53:08 PM |
Jeepman All American 5882 Posts user info edit post |
another patch job definition could be caulking the living shit out of the sunroof, and putting house carpet over the rusty floorboards 7/31/2007 3:57:40 PM |

why dont you paint the wheels the correct way? 8/1/2007 1:29:45 PM |
optmusprimer All American 30318 Posts user info edit post |
like this- white outer with black center, so youre half way there already
although the aftermarket chromes wouldnt have cost too much either... and they look sweet with your paint (VW blue)
[Edited on August 1, 2007 at 1:38 PM. Reason : marina blue FTW tho] 8/1/2007 1:37:20 PM |

cause its gonna be ncsu red with all white trim, probably black interior though, no white carpet or seat covers to be found, just headliners, but thats way down the road
[Edited on August 1, 2007 at 1:38 PM. Reason : ^ wtf, those are chrome rims, and it can be painted however the fuck we want to do it] 8/1/2007 1:37:29 PM |

it hasnt been too bad so far, the heater duct, rocker panel area is the only thing i am really concerned about, it can be a real time consuming bitch, and theres no way to tell just by lookin at it, i'm gonna start poking it with a screwdriver this week
[Edited on August 1, 2007 at 1:44 PM. Reason : 2.5" whitewalls are expensive, i like the white rim, black tire, red fender idea, ncsu bug ftw] 8/1/2007 1:43:03 PM |

I helped a buddy of mine redo a bug back in high school. The magic number for that car was $20. We chopped it and lifted it though. 8/1/2007 2:24:40 PM |

where did you order your pans? youre probably going to want to cut the old seat tracks off the old pans and reuse them as the ones on replacement pans tend to suck. 8/6/2007 10:11:53 PM |

yeah the mid america pans or the RMMW pans are probably the best, youll probably be fine with the seattracks that come on them but the cheaper ones suck bad. 8/6/2007 10:23:42 PM |
