My fiance used to live just outside of there. When I would go there to see her (I was living up closer to DC), the Spotsylvania Shopping Center/Mall is decent sized, movie theater etc. Downtown Fredricksburg has a couple good bars (Brocks was one) and in Central Park there is Uncle Sam's, a bar/ club. It was ok. There is more to do up closer to DC. 8/6/2007 6:50:12 PM |

Lived there. 95 sucks, VA has the worst drivers, people are podunk as Hell.
Otherwise downtown Fredericksburg is awesome. They have a corner cafe I've forgotten the name of but I spent hours there almost everyday. awesome place.
I guarantee someone will hit you with their car there. My only two accidents were in Fredericksburg and I lived there only a year. 8/6/2007 9:11:01 PM |

cheap gas, but houses are getting more and more expensive from DC's sprawl. My friend who lives there saw prices go up 50% or more during his search for a house. Kind of depressing when the same doesn't occur with your salary. 8/6/2007 9:39:23 PM |

if you're working in DC you will want to kill yourself every morning and evening. 8/6/2007 9:58:32 PM |

Why move to Fredericksburg? Any job in particular?
I currently live in Fairfax right on the boarder with Arlington. It's much closer to DC (good and bad) and more things to do than Fredericksburg.
If you have a job there, it's nice. If you have to travel into the metro area, you'll wish you were dead. 8/6/2007 10:28:04 PM |

Quite possibly the most miserable place to get around in the world. NOVA is like Cary except it's a huge chunk of a state 8/6/2007 11:34:26 PM |

^ This man speaks the truth.
If you dislike cary even alittle you will hate all of NOVA. Its a cluster fuck of strip malls and shitty apartment buildings with horrendous traffic.
Also people call it NOVA which is fuckin gay. 8/6/2007 11:37:52 PM |

i've lived here for 18 years.
i love it.
don't go to merryman's unless you're gay. seriously, that was a long night.
Frednecks are bothersome, but harmless. Central Park is huge and has a ton of things to do / places to go / people to meet. Frednecks are much less pretentious than NOVA people, and you'll appreciate the hospitality, but don't stare at anyone too long and don't hit on their women. Plenty of girls around here though (Howard is right about the UMW chicks).
If you plan on settling down, it's a helluva place to raise a family.
If you need specific advice (where to live, best places to go, etc.) let me know. 8/6/2007 11:49:20 PM |
