well, I should say, Metallica up through and including the "Black Album" (and yes, I understand that even that some people hate on that album, too, but I view that album as still pretty damned good, but exhibiting the first signs that something was about to go horribly wrong)



oh, but Guns 'N Roses, while one of my all time favorite bands, doesn't constitute metal in my book.

its not bad for a distortion pedal. but really, when it comes to metal and distortion you should be using tubes not a pedal imo.

and metal is certainly not dead.

through a triple rec the mt-2 is disgustingly awesome

i suppose. ive tried both the boss and digitech distortion pedals through the peavey 5150 i had before and the mesa i have now and i like just the mesa better than both. sold my pedals. /shrug

I had the original Boss Heavy Metal pedal and it was the shit until it broke. Then I had some DOD pedal and a shady dude stoll it. Then I had a DOD corrosion pedal, but I have no idea where that fucker is because I'm a drummer and I just played guitar for a little bit while I lived in apartments. Now I'm back to playing guitar a little bit and Jack Johnson rulez!!!!#1

Granted, tubes and straight-up GAIN is the best for heavy, thickass distortion. But if you're like me and playing through a little 12" combo in your room, pedals are obviously gonna be your only option. I used to use the MT-2, but lately I've been using more of Digitech's Metal Master...I still switch back from time to time, I still have both pedals chained, but that one is a damn good distortion. It has a good range...that "morph" knob is money.
