Engine:1960 Triumph Tr3 twin SU carbs

I'm trying to get her running. Both carb floats were stuck. I unstuck them so they move freely and filled the float chambers with gas. The fuel lines are not clogged and I filled them with fuel. Started the car - it idled for 30 seconds then died, there was no fuel in the carb floats after that as if it is not pumping, did this a few times. I then took off the fuel pump (located on the side of the motor, cam driven) and there was a clog in the inlet. I unclogged it but the car still had the same problem - it would drink up the gas in the float chambers then die. I took the fuel pump off again and filled it with gas, then pumped it by hand and the gas shot out like it's supposed to and it doesn't leak.

Does anyone know what I should do next? I honestly don't know much about carb'd cars but want to do anything I can before I take it to a mechanic to fix.

Thanks

Also, it may be related to running lean: the car heats up to normal operating temp very very fast but compression test is ok.
