Okay, I searched and I didn't see anything like what I got going on but...


So my iPod will just randomly freeze up. I won't have any sign of it getting ready to freeze or anything it just does. It won't respond at all until after the battery dies and I recharge it. It works fine for a while but then does it again.

Is there a way that I could fix this, or is it just the fact that I've had this iPod for 4 years now and it's on it's last leg?

Sounds like a hard-drive failure.

Also, I am not sure but is there a Restore button in iTunes?

My biggest thing is, if my iPod does finally die, I of course want another one. But I want one to just have music. I don't need pictures or videos, or even a color screen. I just want one that will hold my 3000+ songs.

I haven nothing against the new ones. I just have no use for video ipods or picture ipods or even the color screen ipods. I just want to listen to my music, and I want an ipod that will hold the amount of music that I have.

I would just like to know what is wrong with the one I have now, and hopefully I won't have to spend money for a new one.
I just want my music!!!

ipod nanos are such a waste of money to me. If i cant have at least 90% or all of my music collection with me, it defeats my personal purpose for using an ipod.

How often does it freeze? And does it do it consistently on certain songs?

If it's not too often, you can just reset it without having to wait for the battery to die.

And the new iPods were exactly like the old iPods (actually a lot better), even when you're not using the picture/video functions.

I've tried to do the resetting thing when it freezes, you know toggle the hold knob back and forth, and then press and hold the play/pause and menu button till it reboots, but it won't even acknowlege that I press the buttons.

It even freezes with the backlight on. It freezes pretty much everytime I use it. This sucks though, cause I don't really have money that I can spend to repair it or buy a new one. My car sucks and it's the only form of music I can get in my car man it sucks being poor.

It's got a 1 yr warranty, if it's less than a year since you've had it, Apple will fix it.

When it's frozen, it won't acknowledge the buttons, but it still should force reset. If it's a 4th gen iPod or higher (where the buttons are on the scroll wheel), then you press the center button and menu, not the menu button and play/pause. And when you toggle hold, make sure you're toggling it to the hold position, then to the un-hold position.

Have you tried a full iPod reset though (hook up to computer, click option in iTunes)?
