Guy was solid when PR was here for 2 years. Then he got nothing much to catch the next 2 years and had to work hard to make a team. GG for keeping up.

yeah, didn't he get a real long TD from Jay Davis too, on a quick slant where he caught it 8-12 yds past scrimmage, then ran it like 50 yds for a TD and got called for excessive celebration cuz he dove into the endzone? or am i getting it confused?

Rookie cornerback A.J. Davis – selected by the Lions in the fourth round of this year’s NFL Draft – is one of those players looking to showcase his skills this preseason, which begins Thursday at Ford Field. “I’m really looking forward to Thursday’s game,” said Davis. “I know I’m going to be nervous – that’s just how I am. I’m always nervous before a game, but I play better when I’m nervous. After the first hit I’m not nervous any more. When I jog out there, it all calms down; it slows down because that’s where I feel comfortable is on the football field.” The preseason will be important for Davis, who – as a cornerback – is part of what is possibly the most competitive position group for Detroit. Aside from ninth-year veteran Fernando Bryant, who has started at left corner for the past two seasons, the Lions have a lot of young players who are fighting for playing time and roster spots. Still, Davis isn’t looking too far into the future and is taking things one day at a time. “I think the whole secondary group has really helped me and the other rookies out,” said Davis. “You know, as far as if we needed something, they just talk to us during camp and when we’re tired they can relate. So that’s probably been the biggest inspiration is the older guys.” Davis and his fellow rookies don’t just look to the veterans for advice; they also have to look to them as on-field examples. As a rookie, Davis is expected to observe and learn, oftentimes not getting the high amounts of reps as his more experienced teammates. He may see one play out of 25 – or even 50 – but still has to stay mentally focused so he knows what to do once his number is called. “You’ve got to watch the veterans that go before you because, sometimes, our plays are spread out,” said Davis. “We don’t get all ours in a row, so you’ve got to really stay in tune. The coach does a good job of keeping us in into the game; he’ll talk to us throughout every play.” The mental game is quite possibly the most significant adjustment from college to the NFL and Davis is no different. Many rookies talk about how they ‘just played’ when they were in college and didn’t have to think things through as much as they simply reacted with their God-given physical talent. Davis is looking forward to his first preseason game against Cincinnati stating, "I just want to come out and have the best game I've ever had in my life." But all of the players in the NFL have that God-given physical talent and, therefore, a higher amount of preparation is required. Davis’ biggest challenge has been that preparation, having to translate what he learns in the classroom to what he performs on the practice field. “I’m just learning as much as I can, (learning) how to watch film,” he said. “In the NFL it’s different as far as anticipation and everything – the difference is the different route combinations; everything is pretty much timing in the NFL. “So I’m trying to learn so I can anticipate certain routes from certain people as far as what different players like to do.” Detroit’s first preseason game against Cincinnati will play numerous roles for Davis. On one hand, it will be the first of four significant opportunities to show his talent against a real opponent as the Lions’ selection of the 53-man roster nears. “I just want to come out and have the best game I’ve ever had in my life,” said Davis. “That’s how I approach every game, to have the best game I’ve ever had in my life. Definitely I want to hit; I want to show that I can play on this level. This is my first time ever playing against guys like Chad Johnson and stuff like that so I’m looking forward to that.” On the other hand, Thursday’s game will be the beginning of a dream come true. “I love the game of football,” he said. “I’ve been playing since I was … I can’t even remember, I probably started when I was like six down at the park in my neighborhood. I’ve been playing ever since and now it’s weird because now you actually get paid … It’s weird to get paid to play this game. “I would play it if I didn’t get paid.” Davis came close to the reality of playing in his first NFL game when the team traveled to Ford Field for an open practice last Saturday. An enthusiastic group of 10,486 Lions fans came out to cheer on their favorite team. It was only a small taste of what it will be like to play in front of 60,000 screaming fans during the regular season, but Davis still couldn’t get enough of it. “It was my first time ever in Ford Field, so it was kind of exciting,” he said. “As a matter of fact, me and (fellow rookie cornerback Ramzee Robinson) warming up – we had big old smiles on our face for the first time I was in there. It was really cool. We had a chance to really see the fans (and) that’s probably the closest I’ve been to the fans since I’ve been here. “I’m really looking forward to Thursday’s game.” "

Also add Mike Warren to that list--he was a wolfpacker at one time. Some walk on at State that never touched the field, then transferred to Elon and played two seasons I think, got kicked out, was on the practice squad for someone (possibly chargers) and signed a one year contract with the Chargers in April, but got cut.
