What a fucking easy schedule. No OU or Texas. Fatgino will manage to screw this year up and will finally get fired.

Also this thread is stupid and should be locked unless we can make it into a "look at how fat Mangino is" thread

when kansas is good, i imagine it's probably a lot like when carolina football is good - minus guys like LT and Peppers

a lot of people have interest for a short time during a brief run of success, but it's really still just time spent waiting for basketball season

glad to see you picked them to lose to CU...CU is the sleeper of the big XII....

and I don't know if they'll beat Toledo either. Those MAC teams play tough on the road

simple solution, for colleges only, only allow threads of this type if you actually attended the school. Individual threads here and there for other schools, games, thats fine... but for these make it only if you actually went to the school

yes yes and yes. imo, if you're more than a passing fan of a school that you didn't attend, that's stupid and ruins the point of college sports.

oh i know but your dad was such a giant fan and whenever someone new walked into the house heasked them michigan or ohio state/usc or ucla or w/e you want to put in there.

Well I wasn't on last night, but I did go to KU, I'll pull for them behind NCSU, and made this thread after all the other college team threads started popping up. I was shocked to see this near the top with 25 replies.

When I lived in Lawrence, my apartment was about 1 block to the right of the stadium from this view, and I had to teach my neighbors tailgating NCSU style.

When I was in Lawrence everyone sported the "Our coach is PHAT!" T Shirts, along with the occasional: "Jayhawk Football: Our coach could eat your coach"

I'll also share the running joke:
Quote :
"A friend of mine was in KC a few weeks ago, and was walking out of Cabela's when a big black car with tinted windows pulled up. The window rolled down and Mangino was in there holding a map and asked my buddy how he could get back to 435. He told him he could start by eating more salads."

Seeing that I live in Kansas, this game was a big deal this weekend. It was actually entertaining too. KU might (emphasis on might) actually be legit this year. Their schedule sets up very well for them to possibly win the Big XII north. Nebraska in Lawrence and Missouri at a neutral site.

Big win yesterday, even with the rain delays. Great execution on both sides of the ball and special teams, and no real weaknesses. Is it time to start moving up the rankings?

wow, how did Kansas pull off this schedule? No Oklahoma, Texas or Texas Tech, the top 3 teams in the Big12.

First, I'm not sure that I agree with your premise. At this point in the season, Texas and Texas Tech have not yet established themselves as better than Kansas and Missouri (as strange as that sounds). Missouri has looked very strong, and gave Oklahoma a decent game. Kansas and Texas have had one common opponent, Kansas State. K State beat Texas in Austin 41-21, while Kansas beat K State 30-24 in Manhattan. The reality is that the Big 12 this year is very much up in the air, but it appears as though the Big 12 South is not as dominant this year over the North.

Second, Kansas can end up without Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech just like NCSU can end up without Virginia Tech or Miami. It is the nature of imbalanced scheduling inherent to 12 team conferences. Kansas has no control over which Big 12 South opponents they are assigned, but the nonconference schedule is obviously Dairy Queen, without a single BCS Conference opponent.

6-0 now and 13th in the BCS polls. One of the computer even had them at #1, all of the other computers had them at 20ish. I think they need to recalibrate that one computer. Honestly I think that one calculation put too much emphasis on margin of victory and no emphasis on schedule strength.

Honestly if NC State played this same schedule, we would probably be 4-2 or 5-1. Toledo/Baylor might beat us and KSU would stomp us, but either way, this team is getting too much hype right now.

As long at they don't look past what could be a sneaky game against OK State in Stillwater, we could be looking at a Kansas-Missouri game with BCS implications.
