i would like to purchase some Cachaca locally if possible - does anyone know if any ABC stores have it - or have they seen it in a liquor store - i live in ATL now but don't mind getting it from NC if necessary - it definitely doesn't appear to be readily available at every liquor store

i need it to make some Caipirinha - i had a bunch the other night and it's my new favorite drink

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caipirinha

i'm also going to pick up a muddler - anyone have any recommendations for one?

My best friend is Brazilian and his dad only gets it from Brazil. He has always given me the impression it's not around here. I imagine you can make anything anywhere, but I have not ever seen anything of quality (READ: anything at all) around here.

i'd give some to someone who appreciates cachaca. you can really smell the sugar cane with this. i even have a little wooden barrel to hold it.

still have a whole bottle left from brazil

also have some peruvian stuff that i bought from a small microdistillery operation on the banks of the amazon, the molasses and ginger are my favorite

i also remember a variant of the capirinha that included passionfruit pulp, great stuff

of course this is of no help to you

I found some Cachaca at the ABC store on tryon in cary a year or two ago. I made the drink but it didnt taste as good as I expected, maybe I made it wrong but it was probably the quality of cachaca.

bought some today and made my first caipirinha with cachaca 51 - definitely not as good as i had at the restaurant in mexico but once i worked with it some more and tweaked it - even added a little sprite it tasted much better

Yeah, you can buy it at the ABC store.

I had it at RhoIsWar1096's place once and if nothing else, it got a lot of people very drunk.

david - check wikipedia or other drink recipe sites for recommended recipes - cachaca 51's website has one as well

i found i needed more sugar than the recipe i used though - the one i chose was 2tsp sugar and i ended up with 4
